Just treated the car to a DVD player, got it from Hal with the ford guys on a refurb deal for £99 :y happy with that and it seems to work ok, BUT....I cant get the damn thing in the hole far enough lol, tried for 2 hours, given up now,it is in, but still proud of the actual facia :( Think the problem is the connectors drop down into the recess as its pushed in, the new "box" it slides into is much shorter than the VX one and I think I may need to get a longer "box" or mod the new one some how? :-\
Anyone actually got one of these to fit in, I got too many cables and have "moved" some ;D
Also the old CD stacker in the boot keeps trying to access the cd's,as in click,clicking, but now the cartridge wont push in, seems to have been an issue only since started messing with the new one ???
Any useful or useless suggestions welcome, gotta try em all or its back to Hal with the ford guys to fit @ £24.99 ;D

Believe me when I say that it is going to end in tears.
It is doubtfull you will find enough room in the dash for that model, and you really do not want the monkees at Halfords trying to bodge it either. Even if you do manage to fit it, the Ripspeed units are woefully unreliable, so it will be pulled out again imminantly when it goes wrong.
BTW - your changer should not be doing anything whilst trying to fit this head unit (incompatable), so if it is, then you have a wiring fault that needs to be looked at also.

thx Dave DND for reply, I knew there must be a problem as this sorta job is usually quite easy ???
Think I can take it back as a not compatible, dont really wanna pay £25 for the guy at Halfords to bodge it in, I already spoke to him the day I got it and he was saying then about cutting the conectors off and loosing the cables, I asked him what about if I want to take it out and put the old unit back he didnt seem to have an answer, said the cd stacker wouldnt work or the steering controls, though I thought I may loose the latter that so wasnt surprised.
Anyway thx for that advice :y will take back tomoz :( will please the handbag she was moaning about spending the extra cash anyway lol :)

I know the DVD player I had in my BMW stuck out maybe 10mm but that was the way it was meant to sit to let the screen flip out.

got one in mine-sits proud-needs to cos of screen when it flips out :y

Some of the Cheapie ones do indeed tend to stick out a bit, (ok, a lot) wheras the branded models still sit flush with the dash when they are retracted.
You pays yer money and makes yer choice I guess.

True true. I had a ripspeed one. Would never buy one again.

i picked a car up on days of recovery that halfords fitted a stereo to and set fire to the loom by wiring up wrong, on your head be it, just check you got fire cover on insurance first
