Post by: omega3000 on 21 February 2012, 15:30:15
My wires to the brake pad sensors have been snipped , the display has always shown brake pad warning check but the brake pads are fine . There is 3 wires , which ones do i join together to stop the brake pad check displaying  :-\

Hmm... there should only be two wires and you simply join them together, but you'd be much better off spending a couple of quid for new sensors - they break so often when changing the pads that they are dead cheap and only take a minute to fit. :y

Mmm  :-\  I was doing a coolant change and while my head was under the front i glanced back to have a look and sure it was 3 wires ...no other wires should be near the brakes should they  :-\

I will go and check ................

In my haste to fix things before they break being a mig owner i made a boo boo  :-[ :-[ :-[ just looked more closely and ABS and break sensors are all intact  ::) can i just snip the 2 break sensor ones and re join them together ...struggling to see where they connect as i cant get the wheel off as some numpty before me over tightened the wheel bolts  :y

The 3 wires i spotted seem to have come out of the wiring loom that run into the engine bay , aux for something ...strange but cant see anywhere they could have joined to . Not causing concern as my wires are all intact to the brake pads ans ABS  :y

should be able to remove the cable from the connector on wheel arch liner and insert a paperclip into both holes and tape up,thats what i did on mine and been ok since,im about at the weekend if you need a hand mate :y

... and insert a paperclip into both holes and tape up, ....

Much better to use the plug & cable of an old sensor to short the terminals out. A paper clip will end up a rusty mess inside the socket especially as it lives in the wheel arch where it'll be drowned on a daily basis.

thats all i had to use at the time, the socket was left exposed as no wire was left the to join the 2 together  :D
