Is it too much to fit into a carry on?
Graham, Linda is going back to Scotland soon and will be back in Spain before I get home on the 8th....is that any good to you?

If youre doing it you need to replace the balance shaft belt and tensioner too which is why the price will be so high. I f you do the timing belt but leave the balance shaft belt, and the balance shaft belt goes it will invariably cause the timing belt to jump teeth. at best 3 snapped rockers, at worst a FULL engine. I have had one where the lifters didnt snap(which they should) it bent the valves but it also lifted the cam shaft ripping the bolts out of the head and shocked the shells on the big end so a new lump required as it just wasnt cost effective.. the 4D56 lumps are getting hard to find so spend the cash and look after the one you have. :y
p.s. while youre in there check the crankshaft pulley for delamination

thanks dude but i did ask if it was BOTH belts? yeh been there before done a few of em now but mostly just buy at trade and then sell to customer at full retail, now that im doing it on me own(wifes car) car costs matter!! strangely enough, I guess because its such an early one it has a solid pulley on the front!! but yes know what you mean about delaminating pulleys her L200 Animal di this trick!!! :y

sorry you are quite right, pre 90 cars didnt have 2 piece pulleys. the one below is poorly and I remember trying to take the pulley off to remove the lump to do the clutch.

nice to see it being used properly!! do early one peice pulleys fit later engines i wonder? cos its a pain in the arris if it has delaminated and some pillock dont know about it and try to time it up on the pulley!! lol

?? Looks to me like its being towed out .... didn't realise that was the definition of "used properly" ...... :) :) :)

actually it was recovering a (one of many) stuck landrover. no the crankshaft is different on later models mae so the pulley doesnt fit.
