Just refitted charged battery and got windows & sun roof working ok.
Radio is another matter - switched on ignition with radio off, switched radio on while holding AS button in display still shows SAFE, no numbers and wont seem to go to CODE. Any ideas?
-
If the display shows "SAFE" with no number to the left, then you are not following the correct code entry procedure, and your ignition has not been switched on.

Dave as I said ignition switched on (all dash lights on even tried it with engine running), turned radio on with AS button pressed in. Waited . . . . radio still shows SAFE, no numbers to left, CODE doesn't appear. I have in the past (couple of years back) successfully entered radio and CD player codes both in this radio and in the Estate radio. ??????? ? ? ?
Any other ideas?

Then you need to check the feeds at the back of the radio as SAFE with no numbers to the left, means no ignition feed to the radio - nothing else can give this fault !!
-
OK thanks Dave

Guess I'll give it another try after trying pushing the radio back - if no joy I'll pull radio and clean all contacts.
Assume you need to sort Radio code before trying cd code.
Car has been standing since October, battery flat. Charged battery, refitted & stopped alarms going off. Car started up on the button!! Estate to do next!

remove the radio and check the power supplies at the back.since the introduction of the grundig 300c on cavalier. all vauxhall radios will run on ignition supply onlt BUT will only display SAFE. if you have both feeds, remove the radio and reconnect it again. these are microprocessor coded and if the car was boost started or battery charged on the car it is probable that you have spiked the microprocessor and now its as confused as a baby racoon. best case: unplug it and plug back in. worst case: pay to hve it recoded £25.

GRUNDIG 303 :D in cavaliers

dbug, just to confirm, the ign needs to be ON with the Radio OFF at the start of this procedure.
Pressing AS whilst turning on ign (and thus radio) will NOT work.
Sorry if this is what you tried.

See original post mate - Just refitted charged battery and got windows & sun roof working ok. - battery charged off car and refitted once charged.

Tried again today - same result.
Patially pulled radio and gave it a good "waggle" and firmly reseated.
Tried again and immediate success - the figure 10 and CODE entry came up. Now got working radio and CD again, car ready for someone to buy!!
(You were right Dave :y)
