Title: Software problem doing my head in!
Post by: Nickbat on 24 February 2012, 20:10:15
Following on from the (probably justified) criticism I got a few months ago when I was attacked by a virus, I finally got round to taking the advice given and recently changed my XP account from the Administrator User group to a Power User group. So, now I have two users only on the system: Administrator and Me.

Now I have been having strange problems with Adobe InDesign CS5 over the last couple of days. I can't have more than one dialogue box showing at any one time (if I click Window>Type, it will show, but will be replaced rather than added to, if I select another view). When I close a document and reopen it, even the general tools box goes missing and I have to reselect it. Also, and this is incredibly annoying, it won't respond to any of the keyboard arrow keys or delete keys!! :o :o

However, when I logged out as me and changed to Administrator, then started CS5, it took a bit longer to load, as if if it were being more thorough, and loaded everything perfectly, plus the arrow/delete keys work.

Thus, the actual CS5 program is clearly working OK, but only if I use it as Administrator. I've tried copying all the InDesign files from the Administrator's Documents and Settings>Application Data into my corresponding directory, but the problem remains...

...and it's still doing my head in.  >:( >:( >:(
