hi guys just came back home from a week end away and as i reversed my caravan in the drive mum wife said there was `smoke` coming from the front of the car. i get out and look and see the engine is hot. the temp in the car says about 95°
it has never run hot before and i was just wondering if its normal. the car a 2.6 elite auto. cheers mark.

95 is normal, was it smoke or steam?
-
i thought it was steam but it cleared as soon as i lifted the bonnet. it did smell hot.

Check the coolant level when cold ;)
It could be many things, including an oil leak from the cam cover gaskets but let's start with a proper diagnosis :y
If the level has dropped then there has been a coolant loss, if not we can start looking at other options ;)
Oh, check out the meets section for a meet at the Ardleigh Crown over Easter weekend :y
If you get really stuck I can try and swing by your place next week to have a look if you like ;)

cheers mate will check in the morning. def will pop to ardleigh crown its on 2 mins from my house. :y

Excellent... Like I said, if you need me to pop in and have a look for you I'll do it during the week... My yard is about 10 seconds from the Crown ;)

Checked water this morning levels spot on still

Are you sure its not oil burning coming from cam covers My last 2.5 did this whilst towing engine getting very hot and burning off any oil around

Exactly why I suggested checking the water level before panicking ;)
Sounds like it's oil burning off on the exhaust, probably from the Cam Cover Gaskets
