I'm in Peterborough. Maybe i'm just expecting too much from it, if 23mpg is the best I can expect then thats just plain crap! I had an ST200 mondeo that used to get driven pretty hard and could get anywhere between 26-30mpg. The car seemed to be pulling better today for some reason?!

youll be doing very well to acheive that round town....on a run, yes

Used to do mid 20's round town and up to 30 on a run. Most of my driving is A and B roads, 40-50 miles a day.

Cheers for the advice. Its not just slow off the mark, its just dog slow all the time!

Filled up again today, 46litres of lpg only managed 210miles. I know you suggest sorting it running on petrol but I do around 250 miles a week and work pay for the fuel. If I was paying £1.30odd a litre and getting 20ish mpg I would be shot!

Think i'll try swapping the plugs and dispack as you can hear it missing ever so slightly at times, if that doesnt work cts and if still no joy cam timing.

I've done an oil change and air filter. It had new plug leads just before I got it. Will chuck a new set of plugs at it. I know its a big car small engine, but my brother in laws 1.5dci Kangoo van can out accelerate it!

If you accelerate gradually it seems to pick up better than if you just nail the throttle. If you just pin the throttle it seems to bog down.

Omega General Help / Omega x20xev very flat and poor economy
« on: 24 July 2011, 21:48:42 »
Hi guys,

I've recently bought a 2.0 16v Omega estate with LPG. When I bought the car it had the engine management light on and was very gutless. I did the paper clip test for the fault codes and it brought up cam sensor and lambda. I have replaced these and now have no engine management light and the car is running much better. However the power is still very flat, its responsive at light throttle but put your foot down and it really needs winding up. The best mpg i've had on gas so far is 23mpg and only a touch higher on petrol. I know its a big car and is never gonna be quick but feels like there is a big hole in the powerband.

On a seperate note it also has an issue running on petrol, it will run fine at light throttle but it very hesitant at full throttle feels like fuel starvation. I have replaced the fuel filter incase it was a blockage.

Any help appreciated!

Nah, the suspension is sitting level but the current dampers have had it they are starting to leak oil

Omega General Help / Omega estate rear suspension

Hi guys, i've got a 2000 W plate 2.0 16v Estate. I had the MOT on saturday and it had advisories for the rear shocks. The car currently has the optional self levelling suspension. I was going to order some standard rear shocks to replace, is it as easy as just disconnect the self levelling stuff and fit the normal ones?

Cheers

Cheers for all the welcome messages. Gonna change the fuel filter and lambda sensor today, will start a new thread if I still have problems afterwards

Hi guys, got pointed here by the member of another forum I use.

I've recently purchased a W plate Omega 2.0 16v manual estate with LPG. I bought the car to use as a new hack/tow car/family car pretty cheap but with some known issues which i'm now trying to sort.

The car was in limp mode when I bought it, I read the codes and it showed up cam sensor and lambda. I have replaced the cam sensor and a split inlet pipe so far and its out of limp mode.

How much effect does the lambda have on mpg? I do quite a few miles for work (mainly A roads) and its struggling to do more than 20mpg at the moment! I've not tried on petrol as I have another issue there, it runs poorly on petrol like its suffering from fuel starvation (fine at light throttle but holds back and splutters at full) but is fine on lpg. I think it may be a blocked filter or pump issue.

Any help and advice appreciated!  :y
