Omega General Help / Re: ABS ecu diagnostic please
« on: 16 July 2013, 21:01:08 »
I've decided my car doesn't like the heat.

First thing in the morning it's fine but once the car has been running and the engine bay is warm on comes the lights.
If the car is left in the sun all day at work the lights come on, but if left in the shade no lights.
And I found that if I open the bonnet for a few minutes or turn the fans on full blast whilst driving then the lights go out.

Damn hot weather  8) :'(

Omega General Help / ABS ecu diagnostic please
« on: 16 July 2013, 09:25:27 »
Hi Guys,

I'm getting ABS/TC/Speedo issues but it's not quite behaving like other posts I've read on here so I would be very grateful if there is anyone in the Colchester area that can stick a diagnostic on my car please?

It's the 2.5 v6 so my diagnostic machine doesn't talk to it at all and I can't find an upgrade to my paperclip so far.

TIA

General Car Chat / Re: My clit humms!

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the replies :y. I'm going to replace the driveshaft first as it's an easy job ??? plus I can then measure the bearing since there's 2 sizes, typical  >:(

I'll update once it's fitted.

Thanks

General Car Chat / My clit humms!
« on: 22 April 2013, 22:55:18 »
Okay it's my other half's clit. I could never abandon my Mig.

She has a problem with humming relative to road speed. It sounds as though it is definitely coming from the o/s. It can be made louder by turning left and quieter by turning right.
I've checked for play and there is a real tiny bit on n/s and none on o/s.
It's front wheel drive and I had it up on stands with the wheels off and the car going at 30mph. The n/s driveshaft is spinning steadily, however the o/s driveshaft appears to be wobbling in the middle and the cv joints feel firm.
There is a counterweight thing half way along the driveshaft which is 750mm long.
I'm not convinced it's a bearing problem and I'm wondering if the turning to change the loudness is because of the sound being transmitted through the suspension rather than the bearing being an issue.

My gut tells me that a driveshaft shouldn't be visibly wobbling but I just need a second opinion that doesn't involve getting rid of the car and the clit forums are worse than #@!%.

You guys have been great with helping me in the past and I have my Mig which is testimony to that.

Any thoughts would be brilliant.

TIA

Hi Guys,

What are my towbar options for my saloon?
How easy are they to fit?
Is anyone breaking one?

Thanks in advance :y

Hi Guys,

I have a little issue with code 19 appearing when I use my trusty paperclip.

Currently I have a Siemens sensor on my car. I have had difficulty starting roughly once a year but I have noticed that this year the mpg is a bit lower on average to last year by 4. When I first start it it might run the slightest bit roughly if you've got good hearing but once it is warm then it runs smoothly.

I've read http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=96562.0 regarding the two and I just wanted to make sure that there's no chance my car has the wrong sensor fitted. From the article it doesn't sound as if it has as I very very rarely have any problems with the running.

The only other thing is that it has been drenched in oil down that side of the engine could this cause the code 19 problem?

TIA

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / Wanted: X25XE n/s Rocker Cover
« on: 16 October 2012, 17:52:13 »
Hi,

I'm looking for the n/s rocker cover, the one with the oil filler, but it has to be the one with the individual round sparkplug holes in it please?

Regards

James

I've been getting 19 - Incorrect RPM sensor but only since the leak on that side of the engine. I wanted to get the oil leak sorted as this is going over the crankshaft position sensor (I think) and I didn't want to have to clean the area up only to have it oiled again straight away. Originally it was blubbing oil out but now it's squirting it onto the bodywork at the back and side.

As for symptoms it only occassionally doesn't start first time, only if it has been standing for a couple of days otherwise it starts fine. No lack of power and it is very responsive, plus I don't want to have to fork out for a new sensor if I can help it.

TIA

I've stuck a feeler gauge between rocker cover and the block and there's no lift anywhere around it so I'm slightly confident there's no warping. When I had the cover of I also checked it on a perfectly flat surface with a torch inside and couldn't see any light so it should be flat. I really wish I hadn't done any work on it because originally it was the o/s that was leaking and I got that fixed and I thought it a good idea to do both sides but now the n/s leaks, but only from the one place. Which is very very frustrating.
The main thing that concerns me is oil in the plenum but I must admit I can't remember if it was the big Y tube or the other two. I think it was the Y tube. I'll check tomorrow.
When I first changed the gaskets I was dumb and used pattern parts which leaked like hell and although I replaced them with genuine which fixed the o/s perfectly and stopped the n/s filling up the spark wells I've had this leak ever since.

I'm mostly concerned about the oil going in to the plenum in case it does something funky and damage anything.

TIA

Omega General Help / Oil from gasket and in plenum
« on: 15 October 2012, 09:56:35 »
Hi guys,

I just wanted to check before taking everything apart.

I've replaced the n/s rocker cover and gasket and I just can't get a seal. I've taken it off and resealed again but it still squirts. It appears to be coming from the corner near the strut and coming forwards a bit and not from the half moons. Also it is only this corner and nowhere else, and only the n/s as I've replaced both sides with genuine. I've checked the tubes going to the plastic on the plenum and they have new oil in them but they are clear otherwise. Also the plenum has a thin coating of oil in it which is now making it slightly harder to start after sitting for a weekend in the cold.

Is this likely to be the silver box at the back o/s or what else can I look for please?

TIA

Omega General Help / Re: 2.5 V6 Rocker Cover Gasket
« on: 31 May 2012, 16:24:14 »
Thanks :y

The silly thing is that I've had a new pair of front wishbones with polys fitted sitting in my cupboard for nearly 6 months now but I just never seem to get teh time to do it. Once they're on then I'll flush the brake system. I have replace as much brake oil in the reservoir as I can so it doesn't look black anymore but that's only because everyone commented on it's colour when I lifted my bonnet ;D

Hi Mark,

I've pm'ed Andy. Also I've had a look at the various threads on the vectra covers for it and was getting the vibe that they could cause more trouble than help. Is there a replacement solution for the rocker covers?

Regards
