this noise seems to come on like a switch when you get to a set brake pressure its really stumped me

Omega General Help / 3.2 elite odd braking noise help required
« on: 21 September 2011, 20:48:35 »
hi all i have a strange noise coming from what appears too be my front brakes when braking hard it seems too be coming from the front passanger side but i have only just replaced the discs and pads and the rear pads, heres the odd thing when i first got the car the guy said it could do with rear pads as they were noisy so changed them the noise sstill there so next i do the fronts and hey presto still noisy its like a deep rotation noise if that makes sense like a worped disc or nearly worn out pad, no vibration or pulling just a worrying noise the car was moted today and all is well with wheel bearings and suspension bushes so i was wondering if anyone else has suffered this??
any help much appreciated

Omega General Help / cambelt fitting in kent??
« on: 30 August 2011, 21:16:07 »
hi everyone does anyone know of anyone who does mobile mechanics in the kent area?? i have recently bought a 3.2 elite and fitted an oil cooler using the guide on here without any issues but thats about the limit of my mechanical skill lol i keep looking at the cambelt and thinking...should i have a go? but the cost of a mistake would be dire so i will leave it too an expert i think, i have a kit and waterpump just need someone with knowledge and ability the car has done 109k and looking through the history had a brand new engine at 62k but no record of having a cambelt beforehand so asked the previous owner why the new engine his reply was the cambelt snapped and destroyed the engine he was told that cambelt changes were due at 80k where i thought it was 40k so the car has done 47k since the engine and has not had a belt in that time so i believe i am living on borrowed time and have parked the car at my work in folkestone where it will stay until i can get the belt done, sorry about the essay here but does anyone fancy earning a few quid and doing this for me(or know of a good mobile mechanic) i have tea biscuits and whatever else you want and obviously i will pay whatever you require lol
any help would be much appreciated

Omega General Help / Re: self levelling suspension problem
« on: 28 August 2011, 17:13:14 »
cheers rob i was messing around on it today and had the std shocks brand new in the boot so thought i would have a look and see how hard it was... 30 mins later they were in i must say the car does sit a bit higher than it did before but the left shock was totally gone so i am guessing after a few miles it will settle down a bit.
