Can't believe my luck. My combo van has a serious gearbox oil leak.

I took the Omega of SORN, insured and taxed to use until sorted the van and now this.

Oh well, keeps me out of mischief.

Ok, I've just removed the smaller sump.

This one has much sludge and worryingly what is left of what seems to be a plastic ring.

however I cannot see where it could have come from as there is nothing above the sump that looks like it is where the ring belonged???

Now the weather is nice, I'm doing my ATF change.

This is because I have juddering in first when pulling off (sometimes) and 3rd gear doesn't always engage, revs like in neutral until I blip the throttle.

Before I go further, thank you for the excellent maintenance guides!

I used a cheap 5LTR siphon to suck ATF from sump, before unbolting and removing. I thought my oil had never been changed as it is very dark and smells a bit burned. But, it must have been done before as the sump has no gasket, just black sealant. The sealant has worked well as there is no evidence of leaks, so I will be using it again when refitting.

Here are some pic's so far. I'd be interested in opinions about the magnet at the bottom of the sump and the goo stuck to it. I thought it looke like iron filings stuck on it, but when I dipped my finger in, it doesn't feel metalic, just a grey slime.

Only 1 plastic rivet, 1 trim piece and 3 8mm bolts per side

I gave removing the units a go. Got the top two bots and trim panel off easy enough, but could not locate the third bolt.

Changed the D2S bulbs anyway. Cheap ones from Ebay, 5000k, look great. But annoyingly poor cold strike success. Will be putting originals back and save up for the new Osram Nightbreaker unimited D2S. I have them in the main beam and they are awesome.

Why did you take the battery out  lot easier to take unit out from front and then you have loads of clearance 5 minutes a side when I have taken mine out, be careful not to break the adjusters 

Was easy enough taking battery out. Never removed the lamp units before.

Mine has suffered from steaming up windows since I bought it.

My aircon does not work and I can't afford to fix it right now.

I replaced the pollen filter and found the arm that opens the recirculating flap was disconnetced. I fixed that and it still misted up.

Recently, I tried switching the climate control 'auto' off and using 'eco' mode. Now it is the same as my other cars, normal.

Getting to the bulb was pretty straightforward. Battery out, rubber cap off, plastic cover off after removing 3 screws, ignitor plug off.

Tried pulling and twisting bulb lightly to see what gives But don't want to be more brutal in case I break something.

How do you get the bulb out?

Got the Cherrys fitted properly now. After first fit found one front silencer moved and just hitting the prop.  A few adjustments, a few clamps and a drive at all speeds, including kick down, everything stayed in place. 

Nice idle, nice kickdown sounds and stays quiet when cruising.

Just waiting for my stainless tail pipe trims to arrive.

Cheers guys. Have done some photoshops of tail pipe exit options. Not sure yet which I prefer.

I'm sold on the bombs and just need to fit them on properly. You need headphones for the most authentic sound.
