Omega General Help / oil leak from front end of gearbox.
« on: 21 August 2010, 18:52:50 »
Hi

I have a 2.5 V6 omega and today, on my way home from my holiday, i suddenly had message on the dash which said, check gearbox. I then noticed that when in Drive, i was stuck in 4th. I then tried to manually select the gears, i got 1st to work but not 2nd, or 3rd. Then when back in D it was stuck in 4th.

Once i had got home it was clear that i had lost oil from the gearbox as a lot of was now all over the tailgate. Smoke was coming of the exhaustes where there was more oil and a small amount was dripping on to the floor.

It was coming from the front (closest to the engine) of the gearbox.
Can anyone give me a idea of what might have broken and how technically and how much this should cost to fix.

Thank

David

Thanks everyone for your contributions on my post. I thought i would raise the issue as the garage was having issues and i didn't want a massive bill and the car was still broken.

Thankfully they got the last bolt out after soaking it and some leverage.

Car is fixed and running great.

Thank you again.

Omega General Help / coil pack relocation
« on: 24 July 2010, 10:30:16 »
Hi everybody.  omega 2.5 v6

I have been having problems with my cars performance for some time now and having given the car to a garage, the cause of this problem is a knackered coil pack.

Problem is one of the four nuts/bolts has broken when trying to remove the pack and so it is stuck in position.

Is it possable to relocate a coil pack to a better position, whilst still having all the ht leads reach. (and then leaving the old broken pack in its position.

Thanks

David

Hello

I have a error code 91, o2 sensor faulty, on my 2.5 v6 omega. I have had a look and there is two sensor on this model, one on each down pipe,  because it is a v6. Which exhaust would be sensor number 2.

Thanks
David

Omega General Help / Re: car hesitates when given throttle
« on: 16 June 2010, 18:26:46 »
Hello

So the car is running really rough sounding. Idle is ok but it vibrates through the car. This co-insides with the codes 33 and 91 appearing. Having said that it flashes 9 1 and then 2. for three times. What does that mean. i thought the paper clip test only brought back a 2 digit. not three.

So blanked of EGR valve. is very slightly better but the codes are still there and idle still vibrates around the car. The engine sounds like normal, as smooth as it normally sounds.  the unsual bit is the exhaust. Sounds like air is being forced out. It doesn't smell of fumes or petrol but fuel consumption has dropped to 20

Does anyone know what code 91 is all about. what is o2 sensor 2?

The next thing would be to change the dis pack.

Please please help as i am going spare. i have a really nice car which i just can't running anywhere near well.

Thanks
David

I asked the local garage to look when they were fixing the air con and checking for a water leak. I go there all the time so i know they actually looked. they also look after my company van so i trust them. The plugs were new about 15000 miles ago.

This problem has been rumbling on since i have had the car which is about 40000 miles.
has never run really smooth. getting sick of to be honest.

leads and plugs are not old and garage, not vx, has said they are fine.

I am going to try and blank the egr. i think it might be sticking. since i have the codes it is worse. was fine at idle before. now it is lumpy and vibrates up up the pedals and when going 50ish, vibrates through the seats which makes for an unpleasant ride.

If blanking the egr doesn't do it i will try the dis pack. Have heard they are tricky to change so will not be looking forward to that.

Would disconnecting the EGR have any effect. I read somewhere that if i do that the ECU would need an update from a tech 2.

Is that right.

Hello

I still am having issues with my V6 hesitating. Have read a few other posts on vauxhall forums, not specific to omega's, that coil packs or a dodgy injector could be the source of my problems.

Do omega's suffer the same issues as 1.6 astra's? in this area?
Please help. it is driving me bonkers.
Cheers
David

Thats already been checked. The plugs are good and it runns as sweet as a whistle. apart from the hesitating
