Omega General Help / Re: oil changed, now tappets seem louder
« on: 29 November 2011, 12:16:32 »
Thanks for the replys. The oil level is back up at normal and hasn't fallen since the change.

I used white spirit to clean of the remains of the old sealant on the sump. I allowed the metal to dry before applying the new sealant and re-fitting the sump. Could this have caused the oil to thin?

Omega General Help / oil changed, now tappets seem louder

Hi,

I changed the oil and filter at the weekend, no my tappets seem louder! Any ideas?

I used genuine GM oil (10/40) and filter. I also pulled of the sump pan and cleaned out the oil pickup (not much other than a couple of 'o' rings!). I used the correct grey sealant when I re-fitted the sump.

Cheers

Steve

happy to show you the work if you want?

Looks really good, who did the work? did they cut out the rust or treat and fill? If your passing Barnton (CW8) I'd really appreciate a look, kettle will be on

Omega General Help / Rear arches
« on: 22 November 2011, 18:43:53 »
Hi

The rear arches are starting to go on my 2000 MV6 estate. I'm planning on keeping the car long term so would like to sort out any rust issues before they take hold. Are replacement arch repair panels available? Has any one had this work done recently? rust is bubbling through the black strip in the door apperture and the arch upper lip has burst the paint but is not yet visable on the outer panel

I'd appreciate any advice you can offer

Cheers

Steve

Hi,

I've just replaced both front wishbones (lemforder) and now need to get the geometry re set. Can someone recommend a specialist in the North East (warrington area) that knows how to set our cars up correctly.

Cheers

Hi Guys,

I've just picked up a 3.0ltr MV6 estate. Had a very smooth ride home so I'm very pleased. Its a 2000 and I payed £800 for it. The rear arches are starting to go but other than that the body is very good.

The temp needle seems to fluctuate quite a bit and the coolant warning light came on on the way home. It didn't get above about 90degrees and did'nt use any water! I'll have to look into it.

First job will be a new cambelt, water pump etc, oil and coolant fush

Cheers

Gez
