Omega General Help / Re: EGR problems HELP!

Hi,thanks for the information, the exhaust manifold gaskets are ok,but would a blocked or collapsed cat cause these pipes on the secondary fuel system to pop/melt.I have found that if i remove the pipe that runs from the rail that the two flexible pipes are on to an aluminium baffle type cylinder behind radiator then the car runs better but noisier & won't rev cleanly over 3000 rpm.the general opinion on the cat problem seems to be logical but i don't understand much about the secondary injection system, cheers, dave.

Omega General Help / EGR problems HELP!
« on: 22 June 2007, 21:28:22 »
hi everybody, can any one help me with my 1998 2.5 V6 cdx,the car had been idle for a few weeks,i took the car for a long run & pop,the flexible pipe running around the left hand side of the engine on the recirculation pipe had melted & made the car sound like the exhaust manifold had come loose,i replaced this piece of pipe, same thing happened, bought new egr valve, same thing happened again, checked all over the engine & looks like oil is being pushed out through rocker gaskets, feels like pressure is building up in the engine when driving until the pipe gives out, shortly before this happens it feels like the engine power is pulsing when i'm cruising.i've checked the egr valve with a multi meter & it does seem to open when revved, anybody got any ideas on what i try next.
