Omega General Help / Re: ECU Needed?
« on: 17 December 2011, 21:08:49 »
Just to add to this, I'm pretty sure it's your cam sensor starting to go as I had exactly the same problems.  I found that by unplugging it and cleaning the connectors with some spray contact cleaner sorted it for a while but eventually I had to buy a new one.

I did get a pattern one, as I was slightly mislead by an online site.  It just didn't work at all when I put it in.  I sent it back and got a refund, then ordered a genuine one from andyc.  I've no similar problems since (plenty of dissimilar problems though!).  :)

Thanks Jimac I gonna try and get one before xmas....I hope :y

Yeah I was thinking about the service as well and coil pack.
Do you think gearbox is alright then? maybe something got messed up abit with the engine swap.

A faulty (or failing) cam sensor has been known to cause all sorts of odd gearbox problems on the 2.2s.  Do a search on the forum for lots of info relating to this.  :y

Yeah I'm gonna change the cam sensor as a matter of course, I'm sure it can't hurt :y

Ok stupid question alert!!! The engine that was put in my car has not got a throttle cable, Does that mean it's the 2.0 or the 2.2?
again sorry for the stupid question I'm much more use to the V6's ;)

**UPDATE**
So I finally got a code reader and scanned for codes and got this:

P0727
P1781
P0340
P1700

I cleared these which made the spanner though the car symbol to go out, I scanned again this time no codes were shown.
I then took the car for a drive and the gearbox seemed fine changing up and down with lots of power like it should, the car does run a bit lumpy more than it did before though and is getting harder to start from cold.

What do you guys think?
Once again thanks in advance for your help. Dean

There may be nearby members with suitable readers.

Which ecu is currently in it?

still the 2.2
So someone has refitted the DBW throttles and the coilpack assembly. 2.2 cats etc. So its only the block thats changed?

Any ODBII reader should get the codes out if its the 2.2 :)
Not to sure if it was just the block that was changed he said that the bottom end went on the 2.2 and and got this 2.0 engine to put in it, all done by a garage.
is it possible to just put the 2.2 head on a 2.0 block and get these problems?

Omega General Help / ECU Needed?
« on: 08 December 2011, 20:37:05 »
Hi everyone I bought a '02 2.2 omega for £400 that has had 2.0 engine put in it, the only problem is when pulling away it has a massive lack of power and it feel like it's lacking power when driving, also the light on the dash with the spanner though the car is on.
Now i think this is all happening because the ecu was not changed at the time and still has the original one in the car, if i change the ecu, key chip, and transponder for a 2.0l one will this solve the problem?
Thanks for your help in advarnce.
