i put the original air filter back on and it seemed to cure the auto box fault more or less instantly, problem is iv seemed to have damaged a head gasket i think as now the oil cap is full of mayo, iv had nothing but problems with it since iv been messing around so iv just bought a 1999 2.5 cdx to replace it and im going to put all my elite extra's on it and leave the engine bay alone this time  ;)

cheers mate, iv put the original filter back on now and it doesnt seem to go in limp mode now so i may be wrong in thinking that it was messing up the mixture or something and putting it in limp mode but it does seem to be better now, the k&n filter wasnt for an omega i just kinda made it fit so it wasnt plugged into the maf, correct me if im wrong but could this possibly be the cause of it going into limp mode

Omega General Help / can anybody shed any light on a auto box fault
« on: 04 December 2009, 14:59:13 »
iv got a 1994 3.0 auto, this morning it ran out of petrol so after my old man brought me a gallon to get me going i had just set off to the garage to stick some more in and i noticed automatic gearbox on the trip computer and the traction control light came on on the dashbord lights, the car seemed to lose power as if it was in limp mode but when i pull up and turn the engine off and restart it all looks fine until i accelerate again and then it all starts again, i put a k&n on it 3 days ago apart from that its standard, theres no engine managment lights on or anything as yet, any help would be appreciated, many thanks

sounds like the HBV to me, I had the same trouble not long back, I'd replace it before using the car again as mine was squirting water onto my coilpack and knackered that too!! ;)

Omega General Help / thermostat problems, what a nightmare
« on: 23 August 2007, 20:59:54 »
after all the work I have done to my car (hbv, new bendy pipe from engine to hbv, flushing radiator, new crank sensor), the real problem stemmed from a blocked thermostat so I set about removing the knackered one and ended up throwing a few spanners  >:(   I removed the top hose, managed to get the bolt out what holds the dipstick, engine hook and coolant pipe on and removed all the air intake thingy off the top of the engine, unbolted the thermostat housing but cant no matter what I try get the pipe which as 2 O-rings which slides into the right hand side of the thermostat housing off so cant remove the old thermostat as there's no room, the haynes manual said it just slides off after unbolting it from where the dipstick is but this doesn't seem to be the case on mine, don't suppose anybody else has had the same problem with there car have they? or if theres some kinda sneaky nack to removing it?   :'(

Omega General Help / Any body know how to bleed the coolant??
« on: 22 August 2007, 21:49:24 »
just put a new hbv on and new bendy pipe which goes to the hbv from the rear of the engine (what a nightmare to do!!), when I finally finished I topped up the header tank with water and left the car running for 10 or so mins with the cap off to get the air out of the system and it all seemed fine however when I give it a run to the petrol station half a mile away it got to hot and when I checked out the header tank it had not lost any water but when I slowly unsrewed the cap the header tank seemed to fill up to the brim by itself, is there a bleed nipple I dont know about somewhere???

the new hbv should be here anytime, in the meantime I have flushed the system twice and I'm just about to do the paper clip test as I think I may need a new coilpack, when driving at 30mph its nice and smooth but when I put my foot down it feels like its running on 5 for a few seconds and then back to 6 and so on, only had it a week and I'v been off the road 2 days already, at least when its done its done!!    >:(

I,v removed the heater bypass valve because when I revved the car from under the bonnet it squirted at me like a water pistol from that area but the valve itself doesnt look damaged, does anybody know how or if there is any way of bypassing this until my new 1 arrives so I can still use the car for work in the mean time???
