General Car Chat / Feedback of my driving my Omega
« on: 18 April 2012, 01:36:45 »
This isn't strictly much to do with Omegas except for the fact that I'm driving an Omega in it, but I've cross posted it to a few driving forums today and figured I might as well do it here as well. The video is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNv6UcDzGpU and more details are in the youtube description.

I welcome feedback - my intent was to drive with a priority on safety, second priority smoothness, and third priority speed (which, because this is the Isle of Man, is much higher in places than it could be in the UK, legally anyway). I also take the opportunity to show off some of the beautiful views in the Isle of Man, including in the first minute where you can see for miles.

Apologies in advance for the commentary.

And yes, it is extremely long. But the first ten minutes should suffice!

Omega General Help / Which fuse(s) have I blown?
« on: 17 March 2012, 20:18:51 »
It's dark and in any case I can't buy any fuses till tomorrow if there are no spare ones so I can't fix this yet. I'd like to know what I have probably blown so it's easy for me to fix tomorrow.

Today I was fixing a replacement vanity mirror, and to cut a long and very boring into a short and somewhat boring one, I managed to short the connectors for the mirror light.

I have lost the majority of interior lighting, the speedo/rev counter/fuel guage light up but register zero. The computer no longer works and neither does the fan/air con system.

I am hoping this is just going to be a case of replacing a fuse or two. Which fuse(s) should I be looking at tomorrow (and what ampere are they if I have to buy new ones)

Externally, my MV6 is a facelift as far as I can see - it has xenons on dip, steering wheel control of radio etc

On the other hand, it's a 3.0 rather than a 3.2 and it's dated 2000 - both attirbutes which as I understand mean it should be before facelift.

I assume there's a simple explanation which is why I've prefaced this with newbie question! But what's going on?

Newbie Welcome Area / Re: Hi from Isle of Man

Welcome to OOF. Very envious of those speed limit free roads. 8) :)

So was I, so along with the tax laws which I was also envious of, I moved!

Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeedom

We even have a dual carrigeway by the way. It's about 500 yards long (being generous)... and a 30mph limit... and has a roundabout in the middle... but it still exists!

Newbie Welcome Area / Hi from Isle of Man

I just bought this 3.0 MV6 so I thought I should find an owner's club. Don't know much really about em, I was just looking for a decent cheap barge, and rather enjoyed an extensive test drive I took it on, on our (Isle of Man - I say our although I just moved here a bit over a fortnight ago so am hardly pure Manx!)  lovely speed limit free roads.

Any cool threads to point me towards? I am a bit of a web forum junkie...
