i find it hard to believe that a slightly leaking pipe will make the steering go hard,i would have thought it was more likely to be the pump itself :-\
I thought myself the pump at first but after reading all posts on here I think air as
1. no leaking at all anywhere
2. no noises at all
3. only stiff when parking after a long run and tiny bubbles rising when stiff, also pipe from box to reservoir showing signs of cracking of the rubber ends so air can get in but no fluid out.

I may be completely wrong but I am not going to change the pump only to have the same problem if it is the pipe. I may as well change pipe and if I am wrong then change pump.
Thanks for reply anyway

Thanks for that already been out to check fuse 14 and it is fine anyway.
does anyone know the part number I need to look for as been on the omegaspareparts ebay shop and he only list part numbers and not what they fit so any help in that area appreciated.

but would not the fuse give heavy steering all the time not just after a few miles

so presume I am getting in air after a few miles,
If that was the case you would be getting fluid leakage ???
Hello,
No fluid loss, just stiff steering, tried to check for bubbles or froth after a little run but could just see tiny bubble rising no froth.
Presume no loss as it is return pipe so sucking in air rather than leaking fluid, maybe only when hot that pipe/hose sucks.
Just to check things are correct as been reading other posts that show picture of side pipe in reservoir as return pipe, my pipe is the one underneath the reservoir that goes to steering box not to the pump

If its the same pipe as on the V6 I have one,but god knows how you post something like that. :-\
I believe it is different on each model, thanks for trying.

Hi Everyone, I have been having trouble with my steering going stiff after a few miles and have noticed my return pipe ( long one that goes from resevoir to steering box) looks a bit cracked both ends (the rubber parts) so presume I am getting in air after a few miles, as after  it is rested a while it is fine again.
I can not see any way of just replacing the rubber part either end so think I will need the whole lot.
I have a Opel Omega B - 2.2 - Year 2000 - petrol
Any help greatly appreciated either with the part or a solution to replacing the ends.
Regards TriciaS.

Omega General Help / Spark Plug Covers ????
« on: 06 June 2013, 12:55:53 »
Hi,
I have a 2.2 omega and she has just gone through her M.O.T so I decided to give her  little service.
I need to know what do you call the spark plug covers ( the rubbery bits from dis pack to plug) and if  can buy these separate from the dis pack as mine are a bit split, also there was a lot of mucky grease on the spring inside, so I cleaned it off and need to know if I need to put grease back on and if so what type.
I have typed in everything I can think of on ebay but can only find the whole dis pack so any help with what to call them appreciated.
Regards TriciaS.

Omega General Help / Re: Tow bar

Tricia, have you removed all boot trims to locate the VX socket :-\
Hello again Rob, yes removed all trim, thanks for letting me know I havn't got to get the relay, I am just gonna start joining in wires as per your colours  in diagram and hope that opel use the same colours ha ha.
Maybe not having connector is because my omega is comfort model which is equivilent to lowly gls wearas most on the site seem to have the better models ha ha.

I'd be very surprised if it's not there  :-\  :-\ Mine (although the older model) was tucked up in the panel at the back near the boot catch
Hi Andy,
I have been back out again and searched and poked in every orafice and there is no connector, thee cannot be one as I can trace every wire and if the kind man that has offerd to upload my pics does so you will see the wires in boot in fullview with none disappearing into the unknown.
Regards TriciaS
I just read latest posts but decided to post this as I already wrote it , but at least you now know I really looked everywhere hahahaha.
I will finish tomorrow as weather too cold for me now.
Thanks for all help and I wlll post again when it is all up and running.

Have you removed the very rear panel that goes along the back  :y

Hi,
Yes I have removed panel, and have pics but do not know how to post them on here.
Thanks.

Hello Rob,
I still have pic that you sent me, it  does not answer question I'm afraid, it's raining again so will continue tomorrow but hope  by then to have the answer as to "Do I need another relay up front" I have seen this mentioned in many posts about towbars but do not know what it is for and if my car will need it.

Hello again, if anyone is listening, I now discovered why I have no connector, my  wiring loom is dated 10/11/99 so as per usual my car is a bitsa on a crossover of models.

I now have it attached to the car so still would not mind a answer about the wiring and if I need any other electrical parts.
Regards TriciaS.

Omega General Help / Re: Tow bar

Hello again,
I now have the correct tow bar (thanks to Rob G).
My new problem is that my model (Opel Omega, W reg, Import, Right Hnd drive.) does not have the connector so I just want to check that the wiring colours will be the same, I have scoured everywhere in boot (behind every panel and in every hole).
I have looked for all the colours of wire that are mentioned as being in the connector  but they are on different sides of the boot so just want to check it is correct before I start snipping wires.
Also will I need any other parts (wiring wise)  because of no connector, example blue (fog) to blue/black x2 , I only have one blue /black so will it affect fogs.
Will I need relay or just fuse upfront, there is a relay or some sort of little black box with flasher wires in and out with the towbar so does this replace the one I have red about needed up front.
Sorry in advance for being a bit thick when it comes to electrics.
Any help appreciated.
Regrds TriciaS.
P.S I have got pics of my wires showing no-where for connector but do not now how to add them.
