Hi all

I've purchased and fitted one of the Diesel Hot Start Fix kits but it doesn't appear to be working. I have checked, double checked and checked again the connections I've made and am 101% positive that the unit is fitted correctly. However if I try to start the car when it is still hot the glow plugs are still not activated - light on dash doesn't illuminate.

Anyone had similar probs with this kit or have any ideas what I've missed?

Thanks very much.

Omega General Help / Top of the range Diesel ?

Hi

Interested in buying another Omega - has to be the 2.5 BMW Turbo Diesel model, probably 1994 - 2000. What is the top spec model ('Elite', possibly?) and what toys/features would the car have over and above lesser models?

Thanks in anticipation of your help :)

Hi again.

Had another look today and there is only one belt serving all 4 pulleys and the 2 jockey wheels. It appears that the belt had been routed incorrectly around the two jockey wheels and also, the jockey wheel that acts as a tensioner was stuck. I have now freed this and re-routed the belt properly and all appears to be well.

Are there 2 types of diesel engines - one with 2 belts and one with a single belt - or is the difference because I accidentally misled you all by saying that the car is S reg when it is actually M reg (1994) :-[

Omega General Help / Belt adjustment on 2.5 Diesel
« on: 28 February 2012, 20:00:41 »
Hello - I have just purchased an S reg Omega with the 2.5 litre BMW Diesel engine. Needs a few things doing and first on the list is the drive belt  - it's currently very loose so obviously needs adjusting. From my initial inspection it seems that the belt goes round the Crank Pulley, Water Pump, Power Steering Pump, Alternator and two Jockey Wheels. So far as I can tell the jockey wheels do not appear to be adjustable nor act as tensioners. My question is how is the belt adjusted?

Thanks :)
