Omega General Help / Re: Failure to Start
« on: 27 August 2014, 21:14:02 »
Crank sensor is the usual issue. When this happens.
Different symptoms have been described and all noted on this forum. When mine failed, the engine would turn on the starter but simply would not fire. Could be something else re the petrol smell?

Evening all,

Done a few long distance runs recently and it seems to lose oil quicker than just the usual trips to and from work.
Just noticed the one of the bag pipes going to the TB is split quite badly. Could this be a possible cause to the loss of oil? :-X

Have you sorted the problem yet? I'm local to you as you know and thanks for the loudspeaker. If I can help you find the problem, I'm happy to try.

Omega General Help / Re: oil cooler
« on: 26 August 2014, 20:45:30 »
I checked my faulty cooler by forcing compressed air through and placing in a bucket of water. Sure enough air bubbles appeared from the oil cooler body. Just like looking for a puncture on a bicycle in principle. May be worth a 'double check' but it was down to a failed cooler in my case. All ok now though with a new cooler fitted. Just as a point to share, I used GM dealer sourced parts and the new cooler was significantly more substantial/robust looking than the failed one I removed.

Can't believe its less than 3 weeks :o

At least I know where my tent is...  ...in the hall, along with all the rest of my camping stuff, has been since Billing ;D

Did we sort out a BBQ?
I don't have a BBQ but do have all the camping cooking stuff. I've been camping in Holland and Belgium since Billing, just got back home, so all of my gear is to hand and ready to go!

It would be great to see the photo's from the arena. I was at the front of the ABS line up so no chance for me to get photo's. Big thanks to all who turned out, My family and I enjoyed the camping and company.

There are a bunch of photo's on the ABS site, if you have access .. :)

Omega General Help / Re: Coolant Mayo and losing oil
« on: 02 July 2014, 02:36:45 »
I had the same symptoms as you, it was the oil cooler on mine.

Regarding the oil loss, is this related to the cooler failure forcing oil/brownish sludge out of the coolant header tank or is it 'dripping' elsewhere? The reason for asking is that cam cover seals tend to fail on the V6 over time. There is plenty of info on here relating to that.

Also on the very early 2.6 there was a known issue with valve oil seals from memory. I had this problem personally. With this issue you typically don't see oil loss dripping from the engine, the oil is consumed/burnt by the engine and you have to top up regularly. Most would probably have been repaired to cure the problem but it is possible that some were not and were simply topped up with oil as necessary.

All food for thought but personally I would start by checking the cooler.

General Car Chat / Re: So what have you done to your car today?
« on: 30 June 2014, 22:13:48 »
ATF & filter change as per the OOF guide. This was overdue and was causing 'abnormal' gear shifting. All is now back to normal....I should have got off my backside and done it earlier really! Service kit supplied through Autobahnstormers. I hope to see some of you at Billing!

Omega General Help / Re: Central locking playing up.
« on: 08 December 2013, 12:03:27 »
Hi Blackviper, Spalding Lincs.

Shame yr not closer. Another oofer local to me showed me how to change the door locks and solenoids on mine recently. If you were closer, I could of helped you do yours :-\

Although I did help Blackviper with the Torx tools, he'd pretty much stripped the door card out and got to the mechanism before I'd got my tool set out! If you decide to replace it yourself, the Torx socket bit required for the bolts in the door (3 of around the lock in the door frame) is a T40...is on mine & Blackviper's. There are some 'clip over' plastic fittings for the connecting rods so it is a good idea to note what clips where before pulling the old unit out.

There might be a 'hole in one'...batsman that is if they are using a golf club to defend against our lot (especially as the opposition are down to their bowlers now)!

We will find out soon enough but if the experts are correct about the wicket and our batting is on form we'll be smiling tomorrow. I've heard there is some rain/showers around over there though?

Omega General Help / Re: Omega thermostat part number.
« on: 21 November 2013, 22:55:44 »
Andy B and allen25, can you remember if the base of the stat where the bolts go through was the thick or thin type. Thanks bikerdon. :)

I can't actually remember but I'm sure I used the same bolts to re-fit. As a guess though and please don't totally rely on it, the base was substantial and probably 5mm thick. If it is engine and chassis related it could be worth checking the part number with the Dealer before deciding where to purchase?
