There is no reaction when I press the recycle button. Normally the yellow light in the middle of the switch would come on, and I would hear the little gears at work, changing the airflow, also the air pressure would increase a bit. But now it's completely dead. When I push the switch the light does not come on, and nothing happen.   :-\

I don't know how this is wired up. Even if the lights are out the switch itself should work and engange the recycle function. The little light in the middle of the button itself i LED I think, and they don't tend to blow out so often. It seems like there is just no power going trough that switch at all?

what would cause all bulbs and the recycle switch itself to go dead at the same time? I mean, even if the light in the switch was out, the switch function itself should still work right? Seems like it's pritty easy to change the bulbs using that guide!  :y
I'm still puzzled by that switch though..   :-\

I just noticed that my recycle button is not working. There is no backlight and the light in the middle of the button does not come on when I push it. Nothing happens with the airflow either. So it's completely dead. Also, there is no backlight in any of the CC buttons as you can see from the attached picture (it might seem like there is light but it's just light reflecting from outside).
I figured that a fuse must have blown.. I checked all the fuses but they were all good. I have no idea where to start searching for this fault. I've searched the forum and it seems I'm the only one that has experienced this exact problem.

For the record, the climate control buttons do work, the fan is running and it will redirect airflow if i push the buttons to direct it to different locations, it's just the backlighting that's not working in any of the buttons, and the recycle button that's completely dead.

Any ideas?

I found a cheep new one on ebay. It should get here within a week, so I'll just replace it and hope for the best. :) I just hope it's not a problem with the wires themselfes. Looks like a real pain to replace...  :-X  :D

I have the automatic climate control panel with two independent sones and buttons to dial in the set temperature.
Here's a picture of the resistor I have, I wiggle the wires going into it and the fan starts again. Then it might stop after a while, I wiggle the wires a bit more and it's back on.

I can confirme it's the resistor, as it's in the air ducts, covered with a huge heatsink. Right now I'm driving arround with a little rope twisted arround the connector, going to the passenger fotwell. Whenever the fan stops I phull a little in this rope and thereby wiggeling the wires going into the resistor a bit, and it comes back to life... Must be some bad connection somewhere.. but I don't know if is the resistor itself or just a bad connection between the connector and the resistor, or even some fault in one of the wires.. :\

I disconnected the connector and didnt see any oxidation on any of the plugs.. I tried to give them a good cleaning with a steel brush, but it didn't make any difference.

could well be the heater resistor, aka the hedgehog, going wonky.

Ok, so this wiring loom that I've been wiggeling to get it working again,  is actually going into the heater resistor and not the speed controller? I thought the resistor was behind the glovebox somewhere, this is more like directly behind the cd-player ? Perhaps I've missred something :)

My heater fan will some times work, sometimes it don't work at all and some times it will work, but then I can hear the speed goes up and down all the time.. like there's a bad connection somewhere. I took out the glovebox and figgured out that somewhere behind the cd-player area there is a connector going to a box (speed controller?). I wiggled on the wiring a bit and then the fan came to life again and worked perfectly.
It still keeps stoping, i wiggle some more and it works for a while again.. Clarely there is a bad connection somewhere, but I can't find anything. I took out the connector and checked the pins for corrotion, but everything looked good. I don't think it's the wires (I sertanly hope not because there's not enough room to start repairing any wires in there, short of taking out the entire dashboard..).

I've tried to put 12v directly on the fan and it runs smoothly, so I've ruled out the fan itself.

Have anyone else had this problem? I did a search and found various issues related to the heating fan, but nothing quite like this.. :\

I used the guide when I did the hand brake the first time. I replaced everything exept the cables. Should I just try to replace the cables? I can't tell if they are rusted inside. They look good on the outside though, and they seem to move freely.

The hand brake has always been a bit stiffer on this car than most other cars I've owned, so I just figured it's supposed to be like that..   8)

In Norway we have this periodic control every 2 years which we call "EU Control", so I assume everyone in the EU has to og trough the same thing.

I got a number 2. fault on my hand brake. They said it was possible to lock the wheels with it but that it was a bit hard to phull up. I recently tightened the shooes at the rear and the wire under the car before the Control so that the handbrake should be OK. when operating as it should the hand brake has always been a bit hard to phull up compared to most other cars.. I recently replaced everything in the rear so the hand brake should be OK.

I just don't know how to get the car aproved with this fault they gave me. I don't know how to make the hand brake more "easy" to phull up and at the same time grip. If I loosen it it will be easy to phull up, but it won't grip.....

So what do I do?  I feel kind of doomed right now. The handbrake DO work. The car can stand in a steep hill on the hand brake alone. It's just that it's a bit hard to phull up all the way so that it will take properly.

Can they really give me a fault on this? what can I do about this problem? I don't see any way to fix this the way they want it..  :(

Got my air mass meter today. Connected it and the fault code is gone now, so is the smoke.

But this solenoid is still not fixed. It's not causing any fault code though.
how will this not beeing Connected affect Things? The valve seem to Control that vacuum clock? Seems to me this has to do With the EGR system. But I don't know what happens when this is not hooked up. Will it stay open all the time or closed all the time? Any Ideas?

As you can see, it has come apart and is unusable.. Car seems OK now, but I'd like to know if this is something serious that I should fix asap ?

X20XEV engine. 2.0 L 136 hp.  1999 model omega B. My sensor is broken off, it's just hanging by the Connector and is not Attached to anything.. :\  I'll grab a few Pictures and post later today so you can see.

13
See attached picture, I've placed a red circle around the sensor/connector in question. Mine has come apart. There are two tiny leads and what looks like a resistor inside and they have disconnected from whatever they were Attached to in the first Place.. so it's just hanging there..  What is this sensor exactly, and what does it do?

I did the paperclip test and the only codes I got was the air mass meter and the engine light itself.. which I suspect is related to the first. I tried disconnecting the air mass meter to see if the car would run any better but no change. I've driven like this for a few days but what has happened now is that I've got heavy smoke out the tailpipe... I tried reconnecting the air mass meter but no change. Still smokes alot! It's a grayeish/black/blue smoke.. difficult to say. I checked the oil Level and it was still at max, I don't think it's oil beeing burned.

Idle is very lumpy and I have almost no Power, I really need to use the clutch allot in order to move the car the slightest. And whenever I let off the gas it just dies and I have to start it again.. Need to keep it alive With the gas pedal for several or it stalls, then I can ease my fot off it and it will sustain itself, but still very lumpy.

This sensor clarely has something to do With the EGR system right? But what does it do? Can I manage Without it, just disconnect it or do I need to buy a whole new part here? Will this thing throw a fault code on it's own? or can I leave it disconnected?
I'm wondering if it could somehow be related to my problems. I could not find any air leaks after the air mass meter, so I ordered a new one, but it has not arrived yet. Right now the car is undriveable. :(

If the EGR is somehow malfunctioning, is there any way I can temporarily disable it so that the exhaust gas won't enter the intake? Just for testing purposes while I wait for a New air mass meter.

Picture of the sensor in question:

Thanks! :)

Ignore the 1690 if *both* EML lights are working.

For the power issue, concentrate on the 0100 MAF fault.

Both EML lights? Please clearify? I have the yellow Enginelamp on now. What's the second one? I know there are lamps for oil, abs etc, but as far as I know a blown bulb on any of the other lamps won't canse the engine light to come on? Exept perhaps the Battery lamp, in which case it won't charge the battery either.

Checked for vacuum leaks. Didn't find any. Going to unplug the MAF and see if it will idle properly when warm without it.

I got confused Reading the various ways of Reading codes on different ecus, however it seems I might have red it wrong, there is no 1 blink to separate it seems, so that means I have:

0100 Mass air flow sensor
P1690 Telltale (Check Light) Voltage High C-37

Does that sound right?

But I still don¨t get the 1690 code.. The light glows to tell me that it is not working? then how could it glow in the first Place? I've never had this code before. The bulb has never been out or anything. Will it og away once I get rid of the other code?

Strange that this should happen right after I washed the engine. I've never seen a air mass flow meter dying from geting a little water sprayed on the outside.. I unplugged it and there was no water in the Connector or anything.
