Hi

I have an update When I started car this morning the check cooling level warning came on so I left engine running and topped up the coolant level and when I got back into the car the engine management light had gone out.  However after about 5 mins driving it has come back on again and the LPG is is still not working, do I need to bleed the cooling system stil and if so how do I do it.  Also once that is done will the LPG system need resseting to get it working again and if so how would I do this?

Many Thanks

Those codes (13 and 89) are o2 sensors open circuit.

Most likely connected with the problems you're having with the LPG system -- most LPG ECUs will intercept the lambda signals when running on gas to prevent the car's ECU thinking there's a fault due to the differences in mixture control between the two fuels.

I'd concentrate on working out what's gone wrong with the LPG system, and you may find the fault codes cure themselves.

From your original post (where the LPG lights are flashing but not switching over) it may be something to do with the cooling system. If the vapouriser doesn't get a good supply of hot coolant then it won't switch over. Make sure all the air is bled from the cooling system and the level is correct. It sounds like you've since developed an electrical issue though, since the lights aren't coming on at all (which probably ties in with the lamda sensor errors as mentioned previously).

Thanks so sounds like issue could be with cooling system, how do I make sure all air is bled from the system?

Thanks

Shaun

I have just taken the car for a spin and the Engine managment light has come on.  I have done the paperclip trick and am getting 3 error codes, 135, 13 and 89 in that order.  Also I have noticed the sunroof is now not working, have checked fuse and seems fine?

Any ideas?  What the hell have I done!!!

Thanks

I have had a friend who is more mechanically minded them me look at the car and as far as he can tell the areas I have been working on do not contain any LPG wirng that I could have dislodged etc.

Could the LPG ECU just need reseting and if so does anyone have any ideas where that is?

Thanks

Hi all

As you can see from previous posts I have been having a few idling issues and other issues with my car.

Today as suggested I done I few of your suggestions on the car, I flushed and refilled the coolant, took of the ICV and cleaned it with carb cleaner and also took out the windscreen wipers and mechanism to reallign them. I also pulled out a few leads and checked the wells for oil and found some so syphoned out what I could with a turkey baster ( I realise gaskets will also need doing soon!)

All this went OK however when I took the car out after doing all this I noticed the LPG lights were on but not transfering to LPG(even when pressing button) and just staying on petrol.  I stopped and checked the 2 LPG fuses whch were both fine but when I tried car again no lights at all come on the dashboard indicator.

I have now retaken out the wiper mechanism to see if I could see anything different but there seems to be no loose wires etc and I cant smell any gas?

Does anyone have any ideas?  Is car safe to drive?

Thanks

Omega General Help / Windscreen wipers adjustment?
« on: 27 July 2007, 09:24:07 »
Hi all, me again!

Can anyone tell me if it is difficult to adjust the windsreen wiper allignment.

Basically they are not stopping in the right place, they go down to bottom and then jump back up a good few inches before stopping?  It also means they go off the windscreen while sweeping!

Also the washer jets seem to be blocked, the pump is working and I cleaned out the filter as described in the how to section but water is now only slowly coming out of the drivers side washers and only drippling out of the passenger side?  any ideas?

Thanks for all your help!

Hi all

Hope you may be able to help, I have had a new problen arise on my new car.  When travelling at low speeds I am getting a strange squeaking sound it i is not constant it happens about once or twice a second and sounds like the sound you get when a bicycle brake is touching in 1 place, any ideas?

The sound does not happen when I am braking but could it be something to do with the brakes?

It seems to have appeared since I had the car serviced yesterday as well as having a deteriorated fuel filter replaced?

I think it is coming from the passengers side front wheel area somewhere whilst my other half things she can hear it coming from the passenger side rear wheel area!!!

Thanks

Shaun

Omega General Help / Re: Automatic gearbox error in sports mode
« on: 27 July 2007, 09:12:39 »
Hi all

I think problem is fixed (with cold starting at least!).  As said I put in bottle of fuel system cleaner yesterday and ran on petrol (instead of LPG) all day.  Also last night I had another look under bonnet and right near the front of the car just right of centre there was a split pipe, not sure what is for but turned on car and hot air came out of the split for about 30 secs once car has started and then stops.  This pipe leads into a circular thing that has wires coming out of it and another pipe the other side.  I  taped this split up until I can get it replaced as not sure how difficult it will be as pipe goes down towards bottom of engine.  Also now car seems to idle better and does not rev up as much when aircon is turned on while idling?

Anyway this morning car stared fine so not sure which thing fixed it, fingers crossed it doesn't come back?

Hi

I tried the wide open throttle start in the morning to see if the injectors were leaking and it is flooding.

I put my foot hard down on the accelerator and cranked over expecting the car not to start as advised, however the car started straighr away reved up and made  a "pop" sound.  I then still had the lack of power / misfire problem for a minute or 2 until warmed up and then car was ok again.  1 other thing I noticed this morning was that in drive I have no power straight away and could not rev and misfired but in Park in seemed to rev up ok?

whip the front sump of first and check for the thrust washer ,if there dont bother changing the fluid or filter as your on borrowed time already.if it isnt (fingers crossed) proceed as planned . a fluid change will make the world of difference

Thrust washer???

Also in regards to my starting issues thanks to "The Boy" for his advice so far.  I have checked the error codes using the paperclip method and there is none only code 12 appears.

There is definately no oil around the plugs.  I am going to try the wide open throttle start in the morning to see if the injectors are leaking and it is flooding, it now also seems to be idling a bit strangely and will occasionally just rev up for no reason when idiling or when your about to stop which can be a bit scary as you shot forward slightly!!! :o

Could this also be blocked injectors?

Thanks

Hi

I have now had a interim service on the car yesterday and all came back OK apart from that the fuel filter had disintergrated and was leaking badly.  This was replaced and I thought this would cure the problems I am having when starting from cold, however this morning it did start up OK but I still had the lack of power / misfire for the first few minutes?  Could the disintergrated fuel filter have damaged anything else.  Also the garage suggested getting the ECU reset if it was still no better, could this help?

Also this morning just after it had warmed up and seemed to be working ok the ABS and TC lights came on but went away again and did not reappear when I turned the engine on and off.

In regards to the gearbox the fliud was topped up but is still going to gearbox check mode when reved high in Sports mode, so suppose next try will be to get fluid changed, any body know where I could get that done reasonably in the Northamptonshire area as don't really feel confident doing it my self?

Thanks

Hi

This is my first post

I have brought my first Omega yesterday (1997 2.5 V6 Reflection Auto - LPG conversion - 80k miles) and am very happy with it.

However I have discovered a few problems with it:

The first is that when in sports mode if I put my foot down and the rev counter goes near the red the car goes into Automatic Gearbox check mode and stays in 3rd gear.  However if I switch off the engine this disappears and car is back to normal. It seems to work fine when not in sports mode. (sports mode is so much more fun though!!!) and the gears don't seem to slip at all.  Could this be due to the gearbox fliud needing topping up or replacing or could it be more serious?

The second thing is that when I started it this morning and tried to pull away I had no power and the engine seemed to backfire, I stopped and left the engine idiling for a few minutes and it was fine again?  Not sure if this is anything to do with the LPG conversion, it was running on petrol while underpowered and backfiring?  It is also due a service which I have booked in next week, I suppose this may help?

Lastly when I press the traction control button nothing lights up on the dash but TC does light up (and go away!) when the car is first turned on?  Could this just be a problem with the button?

Apart from that the car is great and really good to drive, can't believe what bargains they are!

Thanks in advance for any help you can give?
