Thanks for your reply.
I dont know how to do a paperclip test 
When I started it this morning and let it run rough, I did uplug the cam sensor and it made no difference to the way it run, would this help confirm your thoughts?
When it does this there are no lights that come on, I havent seen any lights come on the dash at all

Hi Everyone
I have an Omega 2.2 petrol (2002)
When I turn the key first thing in the morning, it fires up without any problem. If I put it straight in drive and drive away there is no fault. If I sit for about 10 seconds the engine will misfire really badly and is undrivable but if I switch off the engine and turn the key again it will fire up again without the misfire.
I have fixed the oil leak into the plugs, replaced the MAF Sensor, replaced the plugs and the air filter and cleaned all the breather pipes but still the same. The coil pack and rubbers are all in very good condition.
Any idea's please?
I am about to buy a diagnostic tool but with so many on the market, does anyone know of one thats better than the others?

Hi everyone, thanks for your replies, its very much appreciated. So far I disconnected the maf sensor and started it which made the misfire better, not sure if I'm going in the right direction or coincidence, I will look at all your ideas tomorrow. Serious bout of man flu has kept me away from the car for the weekend but have to grow up to go to work tomorrow so will check at lunch time. The car is a 2002 2.2 petrol but I will update my profile in a sec. Thanks again everyone so far.

Omega General Help / Poor MPG

Hi Everyone
I have just bought my third Omega but this is the first 2.2 petrol.
I am currently getting 14.6 mpg which seems a bit harsh, the car also has a misfire on first start up if I dont just drive away, if I drive away it doesnt misfire. Can anyone offer any advice?
