Omega General Help / 3.0l v6 no instant power after cam swap
« on: 19 May 2014, 08:52:50 »
Hi, guys ive just put some piper cams into my 3.0l and now i dont seem to have any instant power, before i did the swap i could spin the wheels all through second gear and now it wont!? getting annoyed with it as ive spent loads on cams etc! any help or insights would be much appreciated, i had the heads skimmed and did the headgaskets, all new gaskets, and cambelt waterpump etc.. and it has been chipped. all was running fine and very well until it let go and i haved used all the same bolt on bits from the old engine with a new block
it feels like the early stages of a crank sensor failure as in theres no immediate power but it does still pull if you rev it through the gear, although does feel like its holding back, but when you change up it feels flat again for e few seconds then picks up!?
Any ideas people????

Noticed that my 3.0 doesnt have a hbv and the pipes just go straight into the matrix.
it is a 1996 though so does that make any difference??
will this cause poor heaters or is it only effect the cooling side of the system??

« on: 10 March 2013, 17:13:49 »
hi thought i would update this post,
i found the issue that was starving me of power.
my fuel pressure vac hose and my rear multiram vac pipe were plumbed in the wrong way round.
turns out i have been driving this car for a year like that  :-[
turned them back round and hey presto loadsa power and torque again  ;D  :y
might come in handy for someone else  :)

on my 3.0 there was a choice of two... cant remember the numbers but one had a plastic sensor end and one was a metal end , i am on my 4th one now  :o
if you have a quick look before and see if yours is metal or plastic it might save u some agro.  :)

hi think my fuel pressure regulator may have the wrong vac pipe on it!
should it have the vac pipe from the idle valve or one from the brake servo hose??
cheers

used the search bar and from what i can gather the longer plenum is only good for the 3.0 for more flow but the 2.5 responds better with the shorter plenum.

is there any benefit to fitting the later longer x30xe inlet plenum to an early short plenum engine?

am i right in saying it should give me a little bit more torque as its longer??

also are the 3.2 exhaust manifolds worth fitting?? are there any benefits??

cheers  :)
