ate,textar,bosch and tevis all make discs and pads for vauxhall so you did well and got "genuine" again ironingboard!!

guess what brakes give the best efficiency?? when they are metal to metal!!. on the new computerised mot system you can fail discs/drums etc for being"worn" i will fail a brake disc for excessive wear , it tends to be the "lip"" round the edge of the disc showing how much the disc has worn. the official line from VOSA is unless the componant has or is very close to the end of its servicable life...pass and advise . for your info VOSA are very aware that these nationwide chains tend to have a high failiure rate on.....shocks,tyres,brakes and exhausts!!

your vauxhall dealer will do you a non genuine (gates) cam belt kit in a plain brown box for £42+vat ish. inside you will find a cam belt, tensioner, and two cam belt idlers

cambelt has jumped 1 tooth on 1 cam, hence the noise in the filter box, quite common on the 1.8 and 2.0 ecotec engines in vectra and astra, also our old friend the rover k series, if when checking the cam timing marks are ok its not uncomon to find the crankshaft sprocket keyway worn giving you the vauxhall version of hondas vvc!!!

yes bud we have a lot of trouble with rear belts in the workshop on mot tests, ford mondeo center belt the worst! sometimes if the seat is as little as 5/10 degrees away from were it should be (locked in posision) it wont let the belt out!

yes agreed maybe we should send our own cars to another MOT station to be tested? but remember, any car at any time could be stoped by police or involved in an accident and retested so its not in our intrests to pass a "dodgy" car we try to remain as ever impartial!
