Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: FAULTY ALARM - HELP NEEDED
« on: 13 September 2012, 18:28:44 »
The noise it makes is siren like - quite diffrent from trhe car horn

new thing now happening -- one of the keys stopped working so replaced the battery and then it was OK -- alarm has just gone again and the key is not working, no led flash when any of the thgree buttons pressed -- alarm cancelled with other key.

IT'S DRIVING ME POTTY - ANYONE WANT TO BUY THE CAR? ONLY DONE 73K MILES, CURRENT MOT, RUNS WELL DAILY, VERY GOOD CONDITION FOR THE YEAR!
I'LL BE VERY VERY SORRY TO SEE IT GO BUT I'M NOT TECHNICAL OR MECHANICALLY MINDED AND I'M ASSUMING A\N AUTO ELECTRICIAN OR GARAGE WOULD CHARGE A LOT TO FIX IT

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / FAULTY ALARM - HELP NEEDED
« on: 12 September 2012, 11:58:18 »
I have an 03 2.6 and it has developed an alarm fault.
There are so many posts on this topic I have become totally confused on the solution
The alarm rarely goes off during the day - usually it's in the middle of the night
It will reset - at first it just needed the alarm unset and reset with the key but now it seems to involve more and more opening and closing of doors and the bonnet or just leraving it unset.
I used a cable tie to set the underbonnet switch right down but this has not resolved it.
Is the next step to disconnect the power sounder or to remove it completely and also to remove the dedicated horn?
If I do this will cut out the fault or will I still get the flashing lights that accompany the horn?
If this will not resolve it would a code reader identify the fault - Argos sell one for about £90

Thanks everyone for the welcomes - it's much appreciated.

Thanks also for the tip to make sure it's from a facelift model - any suggestions where I could buy one in the Leeds area?

On my old Elite there was an air spoiler on the boot lid and i always thought that it made the shape much better. I'd like to fit one on my 03 reg CDX but am not sure whether it is practical or sensible or safe. has anyone any suggestions about what may be suitable or any othert helpful comments?
