Thanks for replys!

I do now all the tricks of testing engine and components, as a startermotor, i repair light and heavy machinery for work

But as it's an Omega in question i thought maybe there's something i've missed on assembling...

And the thing bugging me is the buzzing noise from abs ecu because i haven't heard this before.

And how about immobilizer? Will it still crank the starter even if immo has died for some reason?

So have it sat in garage nearly 5 months for some maintanance and got it reassembled yesterday. Didn't fire up. Main suspect is startermotor, silent as a dead sparrow, and i had some problems with it in the winter as it froze up a few times. Where's the relay/fuse for startermotor?

But i also have a weird buzzing noise from abs ecu for a few sec as i turn ignition on. Haven't heard this before...

It's not battery fault as battery is good and i also tested directly from a booster.

All comments and ideas are welcome, especially about the buzzing abs ecu.

Oh, and battery was disconnected when i put her in garage.

Ford Transit 2,4td, rwd, '00. Total crap, gets stuck everywhere, body is one big chunck of rust thats painted. And who the f*ck thought let's put a key lock for opening bonnet What's wrong with the cabel like on normal cars? Took me 3 hours to get it open, and i had to do Jezza with a big(ish) hammer. Lights totally useless and the list goes on and on....
I cross my fingers it will NOT pass mot in september.

BUT on the plus side. It's damn fun on icetrack

Yeah secondary breather box mate, the little niple u on about were the pipe that goes to the tb that one u mean the plastic bit in side dont wurry about it fella u have just done ur self a faver cos its a pain in the arse lol cos the hole always blocks up I drilled mine out so its free flowing and never had any problems plenums are all ways cleane as well and no crap in tb no more , mite be worth tryin in mate 5 5.5mm drill bit and drill though the hole as well so it breaths

Hi,

How essential is the rubber flap in the box and what's the purpose of it in the first place? Problem is the bloody dingi broke off as I was cleaning the box And if it is a absolutely needed thing is it available somewhere, stealers? Part number?

IIRC the passenger and driver side is the same(ish). Use the guide for passenger side.

NCDC dead- pull it out and check the fuse for start. No code needed if it came from the factory in this car.

Steaming up- fix heaters first. Probably will solve that one too.

Hi again,
Time for some Update.

Let's start with oil change for 2,5l car. Sounds like easy job. Well thanks to last guy who did it it wasn't. The sump plug was stripped, badly.

So had to remove the sump, cut the old plug and improvise a new one. Luckily a standard M14x1,5 polt did the trick


Next up brakes for 2,5l car. The piston got sticky for passenger side caliper due to damaged rubber. So bought a replacemebt kit and refurbished both front calipers.
Lets get started. Lock the brakeline.

Undo brake line and remove caliper

Extracting the piston by inserting a bolt.


Ahaa! Totally salvageable. Only minor surface rust. Wirebrush to clean. NO SANDING!

Inside caliper all good.

Old vs. New.

The same caliper after meeting mr. Elbowcrease. Also painted them in red(+20hp ).

Now getting the piston back can be a pain in the arse. I taped it with rubber hammer until it held up straight on the inner o-ring, after that its just pressing it home all the way.
And its good idea to paint the caliper after the piston is put back in or you will f*** up the paintwork as i did

So as i've been looking for icetrack car i found an '95 2,0 man Omega but the key is lost. Am I being sentenced for 25+5 for asking if anyone could guide me(on PM) if and how is it possible to bypass the immobilaiser?

Finally got time to replace thermostat on the 3 litre. There was the originaal thermostat in place so never been changed. And a OEM part took its place so probably safe for another soon to be 16 years

God damn it was tricky to get the bolt back for transfer pipe. Took at least 2 extra sigarets and plenty of hard language After some brutal force on bending pipes/wiring out of the way it was all back in place.


And when testing it on idle i found the most probably cause of my coolant loss, a cracked expansion tank


Started to diagnose the windows not working problem. Checked the wiring in and between the drivers door with no luck so far   Need to dig deeper i guess.

The 2,5 litre car thermostat also giving first signs of failure, so this is up next.

Told ya it's missfiring
 Check the plug wells for oil as said. I had leaking camcovers that leaked outside, after i replaced them they started to leak inside aswell. You should probably change the covers and aluminium ones are best way to go. My plastic covers went fubar at 215000 km and we are in the same enviroment. Take them off and inspect most carefully, if any wavey section discovered throw them away.

Changing to aluminium covers is a cheat. If you clean the breathers properly and only torque to the specified 8nm then plastic covers are fine

Not if they look like bananas!

OP, first look for oil in plug wells.
