Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CCR2006 - or other options?
« on: 06 November 2012, 21:31:42 »
Having had my omega for a couple of weeks now I really need to sort out the music, can't keep using the tinny iphone for tunes!

Bit of background, 03 reg CDX 2.2i Estate, has a CCR2006 in it but currently saying SAFE. The seller said the battery had gone flat so code lost when removed and recharged. No radio code supplied with the car, just codes for the key and the immobiliser code on a piece of paper. Contacted the previous owner to try and get the radio code. Turns out they don't have the radio code either as they lost the service history and they p/x'd the car because of problems with the ecu/immobiliser. As the problems are no longer occurring, and the car came with a brand new (non remote) key I'm pretty sure some works been done on it to resolve the problems the previous owner mentioned prior to it being sold on.

As i'm not familiar with Vauxhalls i'm not sure where this leaves me regarding getting the radio going.

As the immobiliser and key code has potentially been changed, does that mean that even if I get the original radio code from Vauxhall that it still may not work as the car may not recognise it?

Is it possible to get the unit 'decoded' and if so should it then work?

Is the quality of the CCR2006 worth the hassle, or would it be easier to buy an aftermarket head unit?

If going for an aftermarket unit, are there an code or other issues to be overcome or is just plug in and play?

Are there any aftermarket units compatible with the steering wheel controls?

sorry about all the questions, not sure where to start with it to be honest!

Thanks
Pete

Newbie Welcome Area / New to Omega Ownership!
« on: 26 October 2012, 17:48:31 »
Have just picked up my new wheels, a 2003 Omega CDX 2.2i Estate, 147k and looking pretty tidy. Black with dark privacy glass (one undertaker owner).

Replaces a long serving 95 Merc E200 Estate (last of the W124's) that was getting to the point of needing to much work to keep it presentable.

Think I got a reasonable deal at £900 with 12 test and six month tax.

Couple of minor issues that hopefully I can be pointed to the right threads in the forum.

Firstly, it had not been used for a bit so they put fresh battery on to sell it, however radio is now showing SAFE, have no code for it, is it cheaper /easier to get it decoded or get the code from vauxhall?

Secondly elec drivers seat hight adjustment doesn't seem to be working, press the button and it feels like its trying to do something but doesn't move, am I right in assuming its likely to be the motor and how easy/cheap is it to fix? if it neither cheap or easy will leave as is!

All help appreciated and thanks for what looks like a darn comprehensive forum!

Cheers
Pete
