Thanks Al, I was just browsing Ebay and pondering the quality to price ratio. I'll get down to the local dealership tomorrow but I imagine it won't be an off the shelf item!

Thanks James, I'll persue that avenue tomorrow and hope it's that and not the ECU. How easy is it to fit a new sensor?

Hi guys, hoping someone here can shed some light on my problem. I run a facelift 2.5 V6 and recently starting has become a lottery.
I can go to the car sometimes and it will fire up first turn, other times it just turns and turns. I have noticed that when it won't start the engine management light doesn't go out but it does when it starts, probably what it should do when it starts anyway. I have done the paper clip test and it's the usual two codes 12 and 31, nothing other than that.

At present the car is stuck at the front of the house, she wouldn't start at all today. Usually if I leave it for a hour or more and try then she will start. I'm really hoping it's not the ECU :-(

Anyone had a similar problem?

Why did you have to source new covers? Are yours damaged, etc or were you advised by someone to change them?

I was advised by the local Vauxhall dealership that the ones that are on are probably warped and I should get new ones, which they wanted £120 a side for. With hindsight now I should have realised that just a gasket change would do the job.
Anyway I have covers coming from Steve at omegaspareparts and if the ones on aren't warped then I have a spare set

Hi guys,
            just came aboard last night. I have just sourced replacement covers and noticed in the shop on here that there were gaskets for sale (but now says Sold Out). Anyone know if these are still available from here? Would sooner give my hard earned to someone from this site than to GM.

Thanks for the advice PhilRich and I noticed I've posted this in the wrong section  perhaps one of the mods can move it for me?
I'll try and call the guy who has the plastic ones for sale tomorrow and try and find out if they had any leaks before they were taken off. I'd sooner use the original ones to be honest, the vectra ones I fitted last time worked a treat but the head gasket went not long after!! probably unrelated but you never know....

  just signed up and wanted to say hello. Looking for advice on replacement rocker covers for a 2.5 V6 petrol, mine has the usual oil leak problem. On ones I've owned in the past I've put the V6 Vectra covers on but it leaves the oil filler in a real awkward place. Has anyone purchased 2nd hand plastic ones and used them and did you get any problems with leaks after. There are a few for sale on EBay, both the plastic ones and the alloy ones but I'm a bit worried the plastic ones may be warped and I'll be back to square one again!
If anyone has had experience of this I would really appreciate some feedback before I shell out.
