Well I'm pretty sure that I've discovered the cause of the mis fire, pulled number 1 plug lead off and oil everywhere. Looks like the cam covers and HBV are being done this weekend then....

You say cam covers need doing? No doubt oil in the plugs then?

Maybe but as its persisting it down will have to wait till tomorrow to pull the plugs out and check them...

Omega General Help / Bl***** Annoying
« on: 28 January 2013, 16:18:02 »
Well where to start,  the miggy was off the road for a couple of weeks while i awaited a new power steering pump and the weather to fit the darn thing.  Now once i managed to sort it I had a trip over to the folks (140 mile round trip) not a broblem untill about 20 miles from home when  the temp dropped so pulled into a garage no morew than 200yrds after the temp dropped and had a look see only to discover that the header tank was empty topped it up, let the car run topped up again and everything seemed fine continued with journey parked up and left it till next day for a good poke about.  Following day started to check things out and couldnt see anything that would point to a major fault apart from mayo in the filler which i am led to belive can be a normal thing on the V6 on short runs. Now going off the flow chart forwarded to me by Malcome and the fact the water loss is far worse when I have the heater on cool is telling me that the HBV to blame and with the rocker cover gaskits needing sorting along with breathers wanting a clean do boubt its best to do the lot in one go when i have a dry day.

Now jump forward to yesterday, the miggy was used for the first time in just over a week ran fine on shortish journy of 20miles but when we got home noticed the mayo had reared its ugly head so cleaned it out, had a sniff in the header tank and could only smell warm coolant so thought nothing much of it. Jumpped in the car this afternoon to collect the sprogs from school and all of a sudden we have a mis fire. buggeration, what the hell is wrong with it now

My 2.5 V6 gets a tad under 25mpg on town work, when I go to the folks over in blackburn or my brothers up in Lancaster then up to 32/33mpg.
