My car, a 2.2 Dti 2002 salon manual has been off the road at a friends garage for 18 months.
The fault symptoms are
starts fine will drives faultlessly until warm.
then without fail engine management light on at 1700 rpm, limp  and  mode,
down hill or on flat can force it eventually to 2300rpm
light off, 2 second delay, full drive ability no smoke or other symptoms until the RPM drops to under 2000 and back on again!
so far this is what we have tried
diesel pump and ecu off sent away and bench tested = faulty pump. New pump and ecu Bosch VP44 type fitted . no change.
2nd pump no change 3rd pump again no change.
Crank sensor
full wiring check
uplift pump check er none fitted? wiring present but no pump? may be a spec change car?
Diesel timing set, reset and reset again
different clocks on the dash
fault code states "no RPM signal track 4 from ECU"
latest advice is that some of these engines have an eccentric gear or cam inside the camshaft end that requires a 6mm drill shaft inserting to perfectly align the cam for timing. The eccentric cam is to prevent cam judder or slap???
Please any ideas at all anything no matter how abstract I just want to fix it!
many thanks in advance.
