Quick update in case anyone is interested...

My car (2.6 estate) is registered as a GLS and Masterfit also think it's a GLS when I put my reg number in...

Went for an MOT today (failed on exhaust as expected) and again, immediately afterwards I got the low beam fld vision error with the check light on initially. Again, it's gradually settling down - check light is now out but the message still pops up and goes intermittently.

I assume it's been jacked up again with the wheels dangling. Is this normal for these cars or are there some precautions the garages should be taking before jacking them up?

I know on my Range Rover the wheels aren't supposed to be left dangling because of the risk of damage to the height sensors...

Omega General Help / Re: v6 exhaust
« on: 13 March 2013, 17:11:40 »
Hi All,

What was the conclusion about these systems? Were both ebay links the same exhaust?

Is it any good? I urgently need to replace mine as I have an MOT next week and both pipes between the rear and middle boxes have broken following a shunt but I don't want a nasty one! Annoyingly mine is still quite quiet even with these broken pipes but I have to replace it urgently for the MoT. Grr.

Trouble is all the usual garages seem to be fully booked at the moment too so not sure quite what to do about it even if I can get one in time.

Fair enough. Maybe it is a CDX then. Should it be specifed on a plate or something anywhere?

CDX with leather I'd say.

Weirdly, none of the CDXs I looked at had leather. Maybe it's just a base model with extras. It does also seem to have the full multifunction display. Still, straying off topic a bit - apologies.

Hopefully the message won't come back!

Doubt it. OP`s profile states GLS 2.6. No such beast, must be a typo (or typographical error for you Andy) :D

No such beast? Oh. Well that's what the seller said it was. It's definitely a 2.6, but it has no trim badges on it.

How can I tell what it is? It has leather, climate control, the stereo with the cassette and the autochanger, partially electric seats, 4 electric windows, HIDs (I think that's what they're called) etc.

Weirdly, that fault message hasn't been back since I posted yesterday!

.....

It immediately showed this error as soon as it started. Anything obvious for me to check?

Often the arm pops off the sensor on the front nearside wishbone.  :-\

Would they have been anywhere near this to replace the thermostat? It did takle them a week, I suppose...

The worrying thing is that the fault seems to pop up intermittently. or is that normal for this fault?

Excuse the thread hijack - I picked my car up from the garage yesterday - they replaced the thermostat.

It immediately showed this error as soon as it started. Anything obvious for me to check?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Outside Temp sensor - calibration?
« on: 20 February 2013, 11:09:35 »
Hi All,

New member and fairly new Omega owner. The car was very cheap and has a few issues so you'll probably hear more from me! Some one ran into the back of it 20 minutes after I picked it up and effectively wrote it off so it's not got off to a great start!

Firstly, the outside temperature sensor was just reading F. I traced the problem to the connector upstream from the sensor having a slightly corroded and pushed out pin.

Having fixed that though, the temperature reading seems to be about 4 degrees too high.

Is this likely to be because there is still a problem with the connector or will it be because the sensor itself is duff? I did buy another second hand sensor a few weeks ago but I can't find it now, which is a little irritating!

Is there a table of resistance values that the sensor should deliver for specific temperatues? I'm wondering if I can test it that way...
