Thanks for the warm welcome guys and girls

Please play nicely. No one wants to listen/read a keyboard warriors rants....
Did you change the crank sensor?I haven't changed it yet as it didn't throw up any errors for it but I have read it can lead to problems with the outbox! I had the gearbox ECU read last night with a Tech2 which had a "Not present" error with engine speed input to transmission, its been cleared for now to see how it behaves but the gearbox got stuck in second again half a mile down the road and "thudded" into third, no lights were thrown up though, usually when you get a violent jolt it'll go into limp mode on the box! I still think the failing cats are contributing to this!
Ah, thanks, I'll drop him a message! Much appreciated!PM Marks DTM Calib (West Bridgford), and see if he can read gearbox - he has the full Tech2 setupOn the way to the airport last weekend, at about 30mph accelerating gently (as alwaysI'm having similar symptoms with my box, have had the oil changed in the autobox, though it is much smoother I'm still getting the "thud" when it decides not to change up to third or fourth! Plus after a bit of town driving the cab smells like burning oil!) there was a sudden jolt from the transmission, the spanner light came on, and I think it went into limp mode, as it was necessary to select first manually to get it to go decently. On arrival at airport hotel, a few miles later, I cleared the light after two restarts, and had no problems on the 90 mile return trip (although that was nearly all at 80 on motorways). The stored code is 1700 (service vehicle soon request from transmission control module) so I guess that the auto box could do with a service as it is now at 52k and 11 years old. Any comments?
EML light is on with codes 0420 & 0430 (Cats) and 0700 code for the box!
