Well after being slated on here and I wasn't giving advice just stating how long my belt had been on I got I touch with James and he came yesterday in the pouring rain and changed my belt it wasn't in bad condition but needed doing had started to get lose and the timing was slightly out he also did my cam covers only prob he found was a leak from the water pump that had been changed by Vauxhall couple years ago but it wasn't the pump it was the mounting bolts being hand tight once he tightened them it stopped the leak I do not or have ever condoned leaving the belt over the manufactured limits but as my car had been serviced and moted by the same dealer from new with full history I wrongly assumed it had been done as the car had only done 61,000 miles so buyer beware and don't  assume it's been done the car is now running a lot better and I'll be keeping it for a few years yet

I wasn't giving bad advice I've always maintained my cars and regularly serviced them but at the min times are hard and I know I'm living on borrowed time and there not many on here who near me that can do the covers and belts or they haven't come forward there was one but we could never seem to find a time when both available and local garage wants £500 for the jobs

No it's not a wind up but if you want to lend me the money to do it and how much do you put towards a car my last one cost me £2,500 and I spent £2,500 on it in repairs should I of spent another £500 on it I got rid and brought the omega as a stop gap but finances and time mean I can't pay garage prices and I work away all week so stuck between a rock and a hard place

I know the cam covers seep but seals when engine gets hot dealer changed water pump but never did the belt glad it's not my local dealer just not got the knowledge to do belt or covers and can't justify £350 to have the work done might sell it or scrap it if belt breaks

Check the intercooler for oil and the exhaust or you might find you get a lot of smoke on start up and the oil may of collected in the silencers on cooling

I wouldn't worry about the belt mine is a 2000 v6 maintained and moted by a Vauxhall dealer from new all same garage done 61,000 miles and never had a belt can covers leak so some smoke out the bonnet but clears after about 30 miles when towing car was one owner from new and only 2 bits of rust on it and goes like a dream apart from slight hunt when first starting and dash illumination dips with it
