Red in colour, chip on the front Windscreen NS, Rear OS Tyre pressure low...and the Tax runs out 22 April.

Blue in colour, no chip in windscreen, new tyres all round tax till end of August. Very close apart from that. ;D

Means you drive an auto tractor engined omega with 225/55/16 tyres, and HID headlights.

So I'm guessing a 1998/9 2.5TD Elite auto....

Right First Time :y

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Message on info display
« on: 21 March 2008, 00:03:50 »
Hi All
Pressed both buttons on the end of my wiper stalk and had a strange message on the display it reads

044                       2
                     24060

Tried to put picture on but could not work out how. These appear breifly in the top half of the display where the temperature outside and radio station appear. It then changes back to normal. Any ideas what it means?

Thanks very much for the info. Tried the hazard switch fix but
made no difference. Can you get to the relays or do you have to remove the glove box? Is it the same unit as the one for the hazard flashers as all flasher lamps flash when hazards switched on.

Hi All
Hope someone can help. Have searched for this but cannot find.
When I unlock my 98 td elite with the remote key only the passenger side indicator flashes. It is the same when I lock it. I notice in some previous threads people talk of relays for flashing the indicators when alarm is going off. Is this the same unit that flashes the indicators when you lock and unlock the car with the buttons on the key? If so where would I find it to replace it? Or is it anything else?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / First it's there then it's not

Hi all got sound problems.
The speakers in my car seem to be posessed. Some days you can get in and have sound on all four door speakers. (Bose not working at moment previous owner has disconnected it.) Next day you get in and only drivers door speaker working. Then as you go along one or both of the rear speakers may cut in. About a week later the passenger front one may decide to play again. Its driving me mad. Had all door cards off and checked wiring all soldered joints and very secure but still plays up. Sound always comes back eventually but only when it feels like it. Got in tonight and fired her up and there was a very rapid clicking noise from behind the dash sounded like every relay behind there firing off in rapid sucsession for about 15 seconds. Guess what ? all 4 speakers working again for today at least.
Anyone any ideas on the speakers and the clicking please

Hello there
Well I am frozen to the bone but I have found problem :D. Looks like it has been about to happen for a while. Passenger side front door speaker fixing screw bottom right as you look at it. Loom runs along
bottom of door and then turns up at 90 degrees. plastic clip that holds loom not located loom must have been moving and rubbing on screw. Have now repaired re taped and secured loom and all working again ;D

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Blowing fuses
« on: 03 February 2008, 11:49:26 »
Hi all
Hope someone can help. Had front door cards of my 98 elite 2.5td yesterday to fix a speaker problem. Everything seemed quite straight forward. When putting the kerb light back in the passenger door the metal sheild on back of lamp must have been a bit loose and had a
tiny flash of sparks but did not blow bulb or fuse for kerb lamps. Came to use car this morning and found n/s electric mirror glass pointing at a strange angle. Tried to adjust with mirror switch but no power. Went to put electric window down so passenger could manually adjust but no power to electric windows. Got back home and whipped out fuse no1 which was blown. Got my new 30 amp replacement fuse and tried to locate it in fuse board. The fuse blew instantly with a large spark. Checked fuse 13 for mirrors also blown. replaced that and mirrors worked for a split second then blew fuse 13 again. After a couple more replacement fuses mirror fuse stopped blowing but when you adjust mirrors with switch they both adjust at same time in opposite directions. Electric windows will not accept a fuse even with ignition off and key out of ignition. Have I done something blindingly obvious or have I got to get an auto electrician to fleece me?
Hope someone can help.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Problem with CDC 2

Hi everyone and thankyou for a lively debate. In answer to irratics question yes the autochanger is on the drivers side in the boot but seems to play up whether car warm or cold. Think I may upgrade but will suffer radio and tape for now.
Many thanks for all your replies

Best Regards
Mike

Hi all and thanks for the info. I am using all genuine cds and not copies.
and I have tried swapping them around does not seem to make any difference. So it looks like the lazer could be failing. Is it a cost effective exercise to have the unit refurbed or would it be better to opt for a different unit all together. Car has Bose system fitted but shelf speakers not working when I bought car. Was hoping to get sorted but never seem to have time. If I opt for another unit would I be able to connect up to Bose system?

Best Regards Mike

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Problem with CDC 2
« on: 02 January 2008, 22:22:57 »
Hi all Happy New Year.
I am at a loss with this one. Finally got round to getting my autochanger code from the nice people @ bubblegum31. Code
entered perfectly and all seemed o.k. Today problem started that it would not recognise that there were cds in magazine and I got error messages on cds 1 to 4 but 5 and 6 would play o.k. Next it recognised that there were cds in 1 to 4 but I could get no sound. (Still ok on 5&6)
Now on 1 to 4 it will select the cd go to track 1 and after a few seconds I get a split second burst of sound and then silence again. 5&6 not quite as reliable as before. Have bought a new lens cleaner cd as thought this may be the problem as the unit has not worked for probably six months or so whilst the previous owner had the car. Sound on radio and cassette fine just a problem on cd autochanger.
Please help

Best regards
Mike

Omega General Help / Re: What size are my discs?
« on: 10 July 2008, 23:48:45 »
Thanks everyone.
Will have to see if I can stretch to buying genuine VX. Trouble is £83 is a tank of fuel to go on holiday. :'( Mind it is better if I can stop when I get there. Do Omegas float in the sea? ;D

Omega General Help / What size are my discs?
« on: 10 July 2008, 21:22:06 »
Hi All

Going on holiday next week and urgently need to put a set of front discs on the Omega. Can only afford pattern ones at the moment. Question is does anyone know the diameter of the front discs on a 1998 2.5 td elite saloon? I know they are vented but cant take one off as I need the car to go and get them. Have already got genuine VX pads.

Thanks in advance
