The hole in the cat is between the two sensors on the inside of the bend but the cars never had any emission issues come mot time, apart from the standard 3.2 eml and runs/ drives fine.

Thanks for the advice, the cats are pretty poor unfortunately the worst being drivers side, it has a hole in the side of the catalyst on the bend that someone had tried to and failed welding over. Unsure if I’d ever get a air tight join on the flanges either

Omega General Help / 3.2 exhaust advice.
« on: 09 September 2018, 15:24:47 »
Hello everyone, the exhaust system on my 3.2 salon is finally beyond repair after years of bodging.
Does anyone one know the best course to take in terms of replacing the complete system, cats and all. Weather that’s just buying it all of eBay, shopping around and trying to assemble a system through different venders, 3.0 cats (they seem a lot cheaper) and system or trying to find a breaker?

Any advice welcome.
Thanks.

Does anyone on here have any experience with these systems?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/172161124604

Also Even though this says 3.0 can anyone confirm weather it'll fit a 3.2?
My old system is now knackered with holes and a rattle coming from it so probably time to replace.

Thanks

Omega General Help / Intermittent starter motor issue
« on: 15 April 2017, 21:15:59 »
Hello, hopefully someone on here can point me in the right direction.

In the last few months something to do with starter motor/ ignition system has developed a fault that i can't get to the bottom of, on some occasions when i turn the key in the ignition the starter can be heard clicking as if the bendix is engaging but not actually spinning the engine over, it can take many tries before the engine finally turns over and fires up, other times it works perfectly on the first attempt.
The starter motor was replaced not many miles ago but still i thought this must be the fault however when i had it off the engine and on the bench it performed perfectly, just to confirm whether there was any problems with the unit i have had it checked by an expert who agreed the motor is absolutely fine and the fault lies somewhere else.
I've checked the battery connections and made sure all fuses and relays are properly seated but still not found any obvious problems,
hopefully someone on this forum can point me in the right direction, any help or suggestions are appreciated.
The car is a 3.2 auto, x police car if that makes any difference?

Thanks
Mike

Omega General Help / 3.2 radiator supplier?
« on: 05 June 2016, 20:49:23 »
Hello, after a weekend poking around I now believe the rad on my 3.2 may have split/ cracked on the seam along the edge if this is the case does anyone know where I can source a replacement?
Haven't tried the dealers yet but I'm guessing they're going to want stupid money, I've found this site

http://www.carcooling.co.uk/products/Radiator_Vauxhall_Omega_B_3175_cc_2001_03_02_01_08_03_3_2_i_24V_Man_Auto_vehicles_with_or_without_A_C_653_460_28mm_KZ_DG_12OL456-112675-1245.html

and just wanted to know if anyone has dealt with them and would recommend them or if there is a better option?

  Thanks

Omega General Help / Re: 3.2 Thermostat Question
« on: 25 May 2014, 11:48:01 »
Cheers fellas, I work at a vx dealer so got a genuine stat with housing and o ring as with my discount I could get it cheaper than one from euros or kimber friction but decided to play it safe and got a complete transfer tube with o rings as I read these may need butchering to remove but if I don't have to take the sandwich plate off I won't if I can get away with it. Did ask a couple of the mechanics where I work about the job but they're either to young and never worked on an omega or it was so long ago they couldn't remember so thanks again, got no more excuses now better get on with it  :y

Omega General Help / 3.2 Thermostat Question
« on: 25 May 2014, 00:43:53 »
Long time lurker on the forum, its helped me keep my cars on the road countless times but after a scout round i cant find the answer to this question.

What gaskets (apart from stat housing and transfer tube, already bought) will i need to replace when i do the thermostat on my 3.2?
After reading the guide i know i am going to have to remove the inlet manifold and a sandwich plate so do i need to replace the gaskets/ o rings on these or are they ok to reuse?

 Any help will be appreciated

Mike
