thanks guys, managed to get a garage to look at her, it is the rocker :( garage has quoted £150 to do both sides, he said its pointless just doing one as you have to take the top of the engine off so best to do both at side time. Seem to have nothing but trouble with cars this year. first astra timing belt went, then rover HGF, bought an omega saloon from a dealer and had major loss of power and while they were trying to fix it the cam belt went so got a full refund and now this omega estate needs rocket doing. Anyone want my bad luck for a few month. lol

Thanks again guys

im nearly sure the oil leak is from the drivers side, and the smoke on sunday was coming up from the drivers side too.

Omega General Help / crank case or rocker
« on: 17 July 2013, 10:15:15 »
hi all, long story short, i bought another omega after the other ones cam belt went while it was at the dealer, this one from a private seller, was told they was an oil leak, but not a bad one, the car has only had 2 owners im the 3rd. anyways went to town sunday morning and on the way could smell hot oil, when i parked up i had smoke coming up from the drivers side of the bonnet. the man i bought the car from said he was sure where the leak was, so i had a look over the engine couldnt really see so looked under the car, there was a bit of oil at the middle near the front and some about half way down the engine on the drivers side. my other halfs mate had a looked after i bought the car and said it looked like it was coming from the crank case. I know i could be jumping the gun alittle but i had a xantia years ago and the rocker gasket went on that and leaked oil onto part of the exhaust which heated up and smoked, so im just going on that. trouble is i need to know what it could be and my normal garages cant look at the car till after morning (hoping going away on friday night but may need to cancel now)  the smoke smelt oily and was white/grey in colour, please someone any ideas please.

thanks Zoe x

Omega General Help / Re: inlet manifold gasket

there is no oil at all in the wells. there is no history with the car, only mot cert and the yr before one and log book, on log book there has been 1 owner from new (w reg and it was a lady) The deal is replace part free of charge to be honest i feel like asking for my money back now, i have only done 160miles in the car, i need a car to get back and forth to appointments. Ive seen a t reg omega 2.5 v6 estate that has tax and test till next year for only £350 it only has 85000 on the clock too. i feel like they are just fobbing me off now.

thanks, also (sorry to be a pain in the rear) but if its a blocked breather or baffler, would that cause the car to (no better word) squeal when driving passed 3000revs, its kind of like a metal grinding noise and the car to kangaroo when passed 25mph. dumb question but would the EGR have any part to play in lack of power.

Again thanks

Omega General Help / inlet manifold gasket
« on: 28 June 2013, 17:41:53 »
hi all, just wondered if someone could give me some advise please, i bought a omega 2.5 v6 3wks ago, for the first 50miles it ran fine, then started to lack power, ive taken the car back to where i got it, they mechanic said it wasnt the coil pack and that it was the plugs and leads, fair enough they have replaced them free of charge. rung them up yesterday and have been told that the car still lacks the power and the mechanic now says its the inlet manifold gasket. he started the work this morning but when i rang them up at 5pm the dealer said he was still on with the gasket. Now surely it doesnt take a day and half to replace this. When i ask if it could be the coil pack the mechanic said no as the eml wasnt on and the car when idling was smooth, also when revved slowly it was smooth, but harsh revving caused it to be rough.  the problem was it was down on a cylinder but when idling would pick it back up, start driving the car it would be running on 3 or 4 cylinder.  I have a feeling that ive been sold a dodgy car they knew something was wrong before i bought it. im at my wits end now, feel like asking tomorrow if its not running for my money back. if its running then asking them to put half towards the tax which runs out on sunday.  thanks in advance

new development on car. tried to take my son to school this morning but lost power going up a steep hill couldnt get the car to go over 20mph when i tried to use the kickdown the revs went up but had a screeching noise come from engine. (there is oil in there) pulled up at a bus stop and ask my son to get the bus. started back towards home, managed to get the car to 30mph but she was kangarooing. when i reach a set of lights the revs kept falling like she was going to stall. please some one help. thank you all for your replies.

No oil in the wells and plugs look new except for one thats is slightly tan. All leads fit tightly too. Where is the coil pack and how easy to remove. Also how will I know if it is that.

Hi guys

I'm hoping some one can help me out a little I have a omega 2.5 v6 24v auto w reg only have her a wk now but the engine sounds abit rough like its missing on a cylinder. It's does seem to pick it up but soon drops it again. The car doesn't seen to have power either only when all cylinders are running does she have power. I've checked plugs and leads they seem fine. I don't know much about cars so feel free to lol. Could it be the icv as the little rubber pipe had plumbers tape on it and my other half has taken it off and put some other tape back on in its place. Any advise please hoping its not something more expensive.
Thanks

Zoe
