As well as paperclip test, check that your Throttle Butterflies fully
close, with the linkage against the throttle stop.
Check for full and free movement, and condition, of your throttle
cable.
Check security and condition of your Throttle Position Sensor.
All above checks will cost you nothing, and will rule any simple stuff
out before you have to start digging deeper.
Is the idle valve nice and clean?
But this would not cause your EML to come on

If leak is that major... I would suspect that the coolant transfer pipe may have popped out of the stat!
Hi there matey, i have found that it nearly always pays to use gen vx parts and oils but dont lose faith, it will be worth it. PS get yourself a trade club card from ABS. £20 a year and save some money on gen vx parts.
Sounds like the pump has failed big time or the seal[o ring] has gone . either way the pump has to come of to inspect. also check the thermostat housing has not cracked and the leak is not coming from above the pump.
