EML didnt come on Andy so i doubt there would be anything to read. Just held back and missed as if on a limiter.

Hi Guys.

Whats the classic symptoms of a coil pack starting to break down on a 2.5?

I was giving the omega a bit of welly on the way home tonight and as it got to about 4300rpm it baulked on the throttle and wouldnt pull past those revs started missing heavily as if hitting a limiter. i backed off and went to go again but as i was coming up to roundabout had to back off and didnt get it back up that high in revs again.
I had this problem a couple of years ago when i tried fitting a longer plenum set up whereby every time i went to full throttle it did the same. Changed back to the shorter plenum again and its been ok since revving freely.
As its got 168k on it and 18 years old i wondered if it would be the coil pack starting to break down as its still the original?

TIA.

General Car Chat / MOT passed
« on: 25 April 2016, 00:01:54 »
Happy days yesterday when he passed the MOT with just an advisor on both track rod end boots perishing and starting to split.

Poor tester was getting gassed with the smell of fresh waxoyl underneath after 3 nights last week blathering it everywhere but well worth the effort.  ;D ;D

As promised update on the problem.

Swapped the lambda out and bingo EML stayed off. More than that went through the MOT with just an advisor on both TRE boots perishing and starting to split. Well happy with that.  ;D

I've got another lambda to fit which i know is fine. I'm taking it for MOT tomorrow so needed to get it sorted. Fitting it in the morning and will give it a blast before i go to make sure the faults cleared. I had wondered if it was contamination in the connector, especially with all the flooding we've had lately. Shouldn't really get water in the plug but you never know with the age of the wiring/car.

I'll report back tomorrow and let you know how it goes guys.  :y

Got the EML coming on when it gets hot and when i plug it in tells me the lambda is at fault.

Omega General Help / Remote key fob repairs
« on: 03 August 2015, 00:50:50 »
Wondered if anyone knows of anyone that can repair remote key fobs?

Wifes vectra b fob has packed up and she has to use the key which obviously sets the alarm off every time when she opens the door. I think its the switches under the buttons that have finally given up the ghost after 18 years of use. Its been intermittent for a while but now its very rarely lighting up the LED's. Obviously tried a new battery but to no avail.

TIA.

When i last did mine i took the measurement from the inside edge of the brake disc to the shocker using a set of verniers. Once i'd replaced my springs i reset to the same. Had no problems since with tyre wear and that was about 8k ago.
