Omega General Help / Re: Turning off Traction
« on: 06 December 2007, 20:03:10 »
Thanks for the help guys. Yes it is ex-plod. I have a lot of bits blanked on the dash and wouldn't have the first clue which was meant to be the TC. I did look at taking th fuse out but noticed it also controlled the ABS and speedo. Oh, and it definitely has TC, but it's crude and annoying. I'd rather rely on my right foot to tell the car where to go, rather than the engine just die, especially living in the sticks with a high chance of snow. :) If someone could describe where the switch should be I'll investigate. Other than that it may mean breaking into the loom.

Thanks.

I don't seem to have a button for this on my 96 MV6. Is there an easy way of turning this off?

Cheers

Well, the diff has arrived (a big thanks to IrmsherKris) and is now draining in the garage, I may tackle it tomorrow, depending on a couple of other things. Cheers.

I'll take some pictures and happily write a guide, although as I'm doing it "blind" I'll probably end up doing it the long way around. Any more tips before I make a hash of it tomorrow?...  ;D

Omega General Help / Changing the diff, any advice?
« on: 25 November 2007, 22:33:45 »
I'm gonna be swapping my rapidly deteriorating diff for another one this week. I have a pair of ramps, so whilst I shall be on my back under the car I do have a reasonable amount of space to work in. I've had a good look under the car and it seems to be a relatively simple nut and bolt job. Apart from dropping the exhaust off is there anything I should keep in mind. I can't imaginge there's a how to, but if anyone who has had experience of this job could list the main points in doing it, and any sticky points or issues I might come up against, that'd be great.

Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately you have to remove the steering wheel to get access to the two screws :(

Oh balls! I was hoping to drop it to get into the binnacle replace my dash bulbs. I might have to open the column up then. I thought it was funny that I couldn't see a lever. :D

I can't find my handbook at the moment, so does anyone know how to adjust the steering column on a pre-facelift?

Cheers for the help. It looks like it might be easier trying to get hold of a 3.0 manual diff as a straight swap then.

Yeah, there's plenty of oil in the diff. It is a bit black, but a change won't cure the whine I don't think. I'm just wondering if the diff on an automatic is the same as on a manual. :)

Can anyone tell me whether there is a difference between the diffs used on manual and automatic V6s? I'm hoping they are the same as they are in the final drive....

Well, as long as they both fit it gives me more options. Now it's just a case of finding one. Many thanks.
