Omega General Help / Re: Rear suspension 2.5TD Elite.
« on: 11 March 2008, 16:30:17 »
Hi Thanks for the help - will strip it down asap. It does not appear to the compressor, however, but the electrical input. The compressor motor runs. What do the other wires from the 4 pin connector connect with? Does the self leveling device connect directly to it?

Omega General Help / Rear suspension 2.5TD Elite.
« on: 10 March 2008, 20:30:51 »
Hi, I have a suspension compressor problem that seems terminal. The compressor pump appears to have failed. The price of a new one will probably send the vehicle to the scrapyard!! Can anyone tell me of any problems that may be causing the compressor to malfunction? Can service exchange units be purchased? Is there another product IE non patented parts which can be used to replace the complete shock absorbers and compressor setup? Lastly. can the compressor be removed along with the shock absorbers and then replaced with the shocks from another model - without the self leveling components?
I am rather hoping someone out there has the knowledge to put the vehicle back to work!!
Many thanks. CF

Omega General Help / Re: How to change thermostat on Omega2.5TD
« on: 02 October 2007, 20:51:17 »
Hi Mpg is a problem with the 2.5 td. I have an auto and that I calculate does far less than 20 around town. I use it in France rather frequently and never ever achieve 30 mpg. The themperature on mine is anything but constant so I too may have a thermostat problem. Has anyone ever produced a workshop manual for these vehicles?

Omega General Help / Re: Non revving 2.5td
« on: 01 October 2007, 19:01:10 »
Hi
After reading your posted message of today I think your problem might be different to mine experience. On my vehicle it would, under load, rev to about 2k then hesitate for rather a long time before steadily starting to rev again. It would then rev to the maximum with some effort. As I said previously, the problem was the air temperatre sensor below the plenum chamber. It is located below the intakes of cyclinders 1and 2 not as I stated before. I cleaned the sensor, checked that there was some kind of resistance and replaced it - all now appears to work fine. While doing this I looked inside the plenum chamber - it was absolutely caked in thick grease. I cleaned out as much as possible - not an easy task to do well. Also the plenum chamber is not easy to remove fron the head as it fouls the bulkhead. I did contemplate removing the studs which hold it place but thought better of it. Needless to say the car is running again and sounding OK.

Hi
What year is the car? I seem to have the same problem with my 2.5td at the moment but my car is a 95 vintage. Mine does not appear to be maturing gracefully!!!

Try looking under the pellum ( not sure of spelling) chamber - the large aluminium air intake that sits on the RHS of the engine. Between the underside of the second and third air intakes there is a sensor - unclip the electrical socket and try the engine again to see if that makes a difference. Leave the sensor in the casting. I believe it is an air intake temperature sensor. Let me know if there is any change - it certainly made a difference to mine!!!

Hi

After hours of looking at wiring diagrams and testing bits The problem was found to be the air temperature sensor in the plenum chamber. It was caked in oil and grease and so unable to function properly. No warning lights or fault codes showed because the problem was not the failure of the sensor.

Cleaning inside the plenum chamber is a real task should anyone feel tempted - it fouls the bulkhead and so is an impossible task without removing the rearmost four studs. I now understand why this particular task has never been completed previously.

Fuel just over half full!

Is it an auto? If so, check the gearbox oil...

Thanks - Have checked the oil - that's OK. No change to the problem so its an engine fault problem.

When did it last have all its filters changed????? especially the diesel and air filter.

Thanks but all filters renewed as per service schedule - less then 1k miles ago.

Omega General Help / Omega 2.5 td elite m reg acceleration problems!!
« on: 26 September 2007, 20:49:24 »
I would welcome some advice with a problem on my rather old 2.5td auto. It is failing to accelerate when I put my foot down. It is rather flat when pulling off and has little throttle response until 5 seconds later when masses of power comes in. There are no warning lights showing.

Firstly, I would like to know of a fault code reader and manual that I could buy that would help check the data stored in the ECU. Secondly has anyone any ideas concerning this problem and its rectification.

Many thanks CF

Omega General Help / Re: TYRES & CAMBER
« on: 29 September 2007, 16:26:12 »
Some camber can be adjusted using the bolts at the bottom of the strut that hold the stub axle and disc. Slacken both bolts and pull the top of the disc toward you. It is only a small amount of adjustment but will save you some tyre wear.

Omega General Help / Fault codes for the 2.5 td
« on: 28 September 2007, 21:42:19 »
Hi. Does anyone happen to have a wiring diagram for the engine management system for the early 2.5 td? Similarly, I could use some information on the fault codes and, resistance values of the various sensors. Can someone point me in the direction of a publication with this information in?

I have a  2.5 td where the engine is taking excessive time to pick up when the accelerator pedal is depressed under load.

Thanks CF
