Omega General Help / Re: bubble may have burst
« on: 17 January 2016, 09:52:15 »
Hi,
As all the other chaps have said. codes must be read first. I have had exactly the same issue on my DTI (aswell as other members).

It could be something as simple as an old EGR valve (loosing it's ability to pull the plunger up) or a leak in the small rubber vacuum pipes around the EGR valve and the vacuum pump which sits at the back of the engine.

Don't let it get you down, it will be fixable or drive round 'able' in the short term.

Keep us all informed as it all helps

Omega General Help / Re: P1335 & P0725 relating to 2.2 DTi
« on: 28 August 2015, 19:41:53 »
Update,

New crank sensor was fitted which hasn't solved the issue as thought above. Old sensor was fine despite thowing up crank code (need to double check resistance on old one to be sure).

Car taken for another spin and car went into limp mode again. This time threw up two new fault codes relating to MAF P0100 which was unplugged before test drive anyway, then car was started and MAF replugged in. MAF code was cleared and tested and found to be ok (just like the crank sensor so no need to replace that MAF part as just wasting money) and the second codes was P1125.

So down to checking vacuum pump reading at idle wrt servo as per

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=119275.0

as well as boost vacuum pressure sensor on the inlet manifold due to P1125 code

Rubber elbow at back of vac pump.

Don't want to get into situation like P6UL K where everything gets replaced and still fault persists

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=120326.0

On face value all codes relate to high or low voltage input or open circuits - P0100, P0400, P0725, P1125, P1335, P1635

Omega General Help / P1335 & P0725 relating to 2.2 DTi
« on: 26 August 2015, 17:31:20 »
Hi de Hi campers,

Went to see a friend today and 5 mins into journey, my mig went into limp mode, reduced power etc and rev counter died, exactly as per

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=81429.msg1072791#msg1072791

Limped car home, got codes read at a local garage, they have ordered a crank sensor. Came home, read through threads and now slightly concerned that new crank sensor may not be the solution.

Mig was serviced in last few months and apart from going into limp mode when stationary (i.e idling) and throwing up P1635 and P0400 codes runs fine. EGR is clean (although if you read the forum threads EGR never causes P1636 or P0400 anyway) although mainfold is filthy.

Car runs very rough atm as if it isn't firing properly and quite alot of white smoke exitting exhaust.

Any help would be appreciated. I am aware that DTi's aren't that plentiful.

Regards

Neil

P.S Found this which seems to fit the bill in a previous thread, any thoughts

These are the links I have used to come up with the above

EGR - location & cleaning

Poor starting (which my car doesn't suffer from atm but it is warm and the glow plugs probably aren't being activated by the ECU yet and the car is always parked on my steep drive nose down

Evening everyone,

My 2.2 DTi keeps going into limp mode whilst driving (partial throttle but only when been stood idling) and puts the EML warning on the dash whilst stationary but idling (especially when facing uphill).

Reading quite a few threads today (I am no mechanic btw), it seems that whilst P1635 refers to glow plugs (all of them are working been tested at a garage with wire from battery to the glow plug tips), it is the P0400 code which is the main cause for concern.

I could clean the EGR and looking at the O seal but that seems to be a side issue but good practise anyway.

There was a thread about a VP44 (whatever that is) but it seems they very rarely fail.

What seems to be the issue is either air in the fuel system, leak bad pipes that aren't leaking back, sticky injectors on partial throttle or injectors seal knackered.

I use cheap supermarket diesel, so have bought some injector cleaner to see if that helps and as well as using the carb cleaner for the EGR valve, I have read that fitting a priming bulb on the 10mm pipework (before the filter ideally) would help as would a new diesel filter to check for water.

Am I in the right area chaps?

52 plate 2.2 DTi if that helps

The Red Baron, thank you as you have also saved my bacon too as well as teddington man. Can I ask however ow do you re-activate the alarm once all is well though?

TheBoy, I have taken my fob apart and the battery holder part just came out. I can see the two points that need soldering aswell as the two locating holes but how do I assess whether the part that has the buttons on is still ok or is that something only you can judge if I would ask you to look at it for me?

With the battery not connected properly in the fob at the minute (I have tried to pack the battery inside the fob with small pieces of paper folded over and over to "pack it out") will the key work starting the car (as in the actual blade) or does the fob do some clever electronic tomfoolery sending signals to various ecu's when you try to start the car?

Hi All,

I believe I have an issue with the micro switch with my central locking having read various other threads before posting (52 reg 2.2 DTi if that helps)

When I lock the Omega via the remote fob, all doors lock except the N/S/F door. If I open that door the alarm goes off.

When I open the Omega vai the remote fob, all doors open bar the N/S/F door and I have to reach over and pull the tab up.

Can you confirm I have diagnosed the problem correct please?

If so is this the right thread below?

Thanks in Advance  :D

Omega General Help / Re: 2.2 dti fuel pump
« on: 06 November 2013, 12:10:03 »
Hi,

Sorry to hear the problems you are having, whilst I am a relatively new member I wonder whether you could buy a spare/repairs Omega and pinch the fuel pump from that car. I don't have the experience of the long termer on here and they could advise whether the fuel pump is coded to the car or not, their is a car near Goole on ebay (it isn't my car btw) which has a blown turbo, perhaps you could raid the pump from that? Seems a shame to have to get rid of the big beast given a known (albeit expensive) issue.

Do I have to take the door panel off as in this thread below

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90514.0

to grease bits - if so what bits - or can the greasing be done in situ with a can of GT85/WD40 and one of those straw thingys on the end of the can to direct spray

Thanks in Advance

Omega General Help / Re: M.I.D - stopped working
« on: 24 October 2013, 11:02:22 »
Hi again,

Both good news and bad news. Firstly the good news, the MID works, hooray. Now the bad news, I didn't fix it, it did itself.

Using the guide below,

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90505.0

I got the dash out (what a P.I.T.A that screw is holding the dash in just above the steering wheel - I felt like I had fingers like pigs t*ts), and lo and behold the MID started working again, tried valiantly to undo the plug at the back but simply failed (I didn't know how far the dash would pull out and however far I could pull it out meant awkward access to the plus behind the MID). Nevertheless the MID is working again so for now good news.

Can I thank you all for helping me even though I may have to have another stab at it unless by fluke I fixed it by disturbing the wiring or its memory, I find car jobs a bit daunting sometimes and frightened I am going to make matter worse so I am extremely grateful for your support. Much appreciated  :y

Right then,

Just been out, with torch in hand, turned on the ignition and very briefly the MID illuminated with the usual check brake light and then went out again as quickly without me tapping the brake pedal. Tried replicating this 3 and 4 times by inserting key but to no avail. Used my albeit son's crappy plastic torch and can't see any display when shone onto display. Tried tapping, slapping and perhaps a bang  >:( or two on the dash and nothing either. Could it be a loose wire then, if it came on and then went off just as quick?

As Roger Mellie would say from Viz....

Thanks to you all, will check with torch tomorrow and if they isn't anything I can see then I will give a gentle slap on the dash to see if that helps, will try torch first though....

Thanks for the reply, just tried you suggestion but sadly it hasn't cured the issue (although the dimmer does work on the dash lights)

Omega General Help / M.I.D - stopped working
« on: 22 October 2013, 09:47:25 »
Hi,

Got into my car this morning (52 reg 2.2 DTi if that helps), it hasn't been run for about 2 weeks and the little computer thingy called a MID is blank  :(, radio works and from doing a search on the previous MID threads on here I can't seem to work out what the issue is. Isn't the fuse as according to the handbook they share the same fuse (20A) and as confirmed the radio works.

Would appreciate any guidance

Thanks in advance
