hi guys, thanks for all the help, im sure im not the only one benifiting from this forum, i have tried it both with the engine running and not running and am getting the same codes, 19 and 132. this seems to be crankshaft sensor and EGR both saying incorrect signal, i replaced the EGR valve with another one, but the code is still the same. although the electrics on the VALVE seemed to be pointing in the oppiisite direction than the original, does this matter as i was still able to connect the electrics to it?

thanks guys for the help, i have done the paperclip test and it gave me 1 flash then 9 flashes code 1 9. it also gave me 1 6, possibly becase the engine was off,

what would this fault be on this model, some ahve told me crank shaft sensor, if so is this common, easy to replace ect... :D

the ans to the above question, it idles lumpy, its ok when cold will rev up to about 4000rpm but when it gets hot it goes down to 2000rpm. the eml has only cam on a few times but does not stay on and does not automaticaly come on when the engine struggles

i am having some difficulty in finding a fault with my 96 2.6 cdx, yesterday it was running fine, maybe a bit heavy on the fuel, averaging about 300 miles to £70 petrol, as i went to overtake another vehicle i selected sport mode, and floored it, it revved up and was about to down shift when all of a sudden the engine management light came on and the car shuddered to a hault, like a rev limiter cutting in but at 2500 rpm. the light went of again but the car would not pull past this rev 2500, and had a top speed of 40mph, even in nutral the engine would not rev past this but the management light never re appeared maybe only on the odd occaision. the display on the dash did not indicate any problem and did not indicate safe mode. i finally called out the AA and the guy looked at it and initally thought it was the torque convertir but then realised that it also limited in nutral. he then examined further and thinks that it is the EGR valve stuck full open and over gasing the engine.

i have never heard of this, but he assurred me that this would indeed cause heavy fuel comsumption and a lack of power, have any of you guys had simular and can anyone adivse me on what this could be, was the AA man right do i need a new EGR valve and will i still need to have it plugged in to a dianostic machine? :'(
