Jeez - I though I got into a predicaments!!

Just did my cam sensor - only takes 45 mins and I'm an amateur! As previously mentioned - don't go for non genuine. I got a facet sensor (usually a good brand) but it brought all kinds of faults up. Had to spend £80 on a genuine one and all problems solved (oh and don't believe all the outlets who claim "genuine" - only go to Vx to get one.

Don't think you will have much luck with the ticket though - double lines equal never park there, unless you can somehow lie and pretend you actually broke down whilst driving and couldn't go anywhere else.

Good luck with it all!

Hi all - just an update.  :D

Success!!!

The hologramed GM part may have been expensive at £80 but it did the job. No more fault lights. Start up feels smoother too. I shall now avoid aftermarket sensors forever!

Thanks for the advice.

Hmmm. Would I be right in my assumption that people advertising genuine Vx ones at cheap prices on eBay, aren't actually genuine?

GM use siemen, right? Would a siemen one do or should I ONLY go to a vauxhall dealership?

Thanks

Okeydokey. Thanks for the responses!

I'll trog down and try to "trade" in the duff one for a vx tomorrow. Why do they sell these things if they don't work - it was still £40!

I'll let you know how it goes!

Omega General Help / Engine light help!!

Hi all,

After getting cheesed off with electrical gremlins on my Alfa's I have switched to a lovely 2.2 auto Omega.

Having a small gremlin which I need advice on.

On start up the car can sometimes take longer than normal to fire - it is accompanied by the engine light and check auto gearbox message. On turning the ignition off and trying again, car fires quicker and all is fine. Even if I drive with the fault showing, the car drives perfect - no gear issues or hesitation etc. Also if I correct the fault by refiring the car - the fault never appears while driving - only at start up.

Fault code showing is P1781 - engine torque signal circuit.

My gut feeling sends me to the cam sensor as it is a start up fault - but I only had this changed 3 weeks ago. The reason I had the sensor changed is because sometimes the engine light would come on whilst driving (not just from start up like it does now) although then, I never pulled up a fault code and don't know if the check auto gearbox was showing because it was before I changed my faulty header tank and the check coolant light was always on!

The cam sensor I bought was not GM but was (I'm told) a reliable make - FACET.

My question is, where do I go from here. Could I have two duff sensors or is it more likely a fault elsewhere?

Any help gratefully received!
