Cheers All. I am really tempted by a 2.6 or 3.2 as I love bigger cars. Just worried about fuel. Mind you my 2.2 CD usedto do only mid-high 20's anyway... Is the V6 worse??

We get Opel Omega's via Japan as imports. 2.2 and 2.6.. I tried a 2002 2.6 MV6 Auto, it drove well, but had a few issues.. Serious Oil leak, and blowing manifold.. had only done 57k miles...

Our Commodore was basically 3.8 Buick engine Omega B..

Cheers. I Note you have a pair of 2.6's Would you recommend them over the 2.2's? I drove an Opel Omega 2.6 here which drove lovely but has oil leak, water leak and blowing manifold gasket. Common issues?

Greetings from down under.  I currently drive a Honda CRV here in NZ but am returning to London in Feb 2014. I have had two Omega 2.2's over the years in the UK and liked them very much.. The last was a 2003 2.2 CD which I bought in 2007 with 29k miles and FSH. The Cambelt was done at 29k when I bought it by the dealer, and again in the high 70's 4 years later. The engine self destructed at 82k when the water pump sheared off.. I didn't realise the water pump should have been changed at the same time.. (my mechanic should have!!!).

Anyway, Loved both cars and looking for another. 'Honest John' has told me not to touch them at all, as all will now be rusty and expensive to keep on the road. Surely not? I've seen a few 2.2 cd's and CDX's with < than 100k and FSH for 1000 pounds.. And a nice 2.6 CDX.

Are they really passed it? Or still a good punt? Some of the cars I have seen have been 1-2 owner and garaged/serviced to schedule

Comments appreciated

Allan
