General Car Chat / Re: So what have you done to your car today?
« on: 14 February 2014, 21:10:04 »
built up a 2.3 engine to replace the 2.0 in the 9-3 for better spool and more torque also got the 2.0 disconnected from looms/pipes just need to drop the gearbox out the bottom an engine out the top tomorrow/sunday :P

also need to get more discs for the grinder to assist in butchering anything in the way of the new intercooler

tbh this thing has a whole heap of issues now... I was royally robbed buying it and even when it was drivable it was no were near the car I expected the omega to be...

bout the only good bits are the interior witch is tidy and the wheels seem ok (minus the centres...) and it had a manual box rest is pure shed

well my 234 is going into the 9-3 but that will leave me with a 204 doing nothing (think ive got a 19t sat around somewhere aswell...)
id have to do something about the sump (would starve under acceleration in rwd setup as they don't like long right handers as it is)
I can see this being a moneypit lol

guess it all swings on how well the v6 runs when I find the fault...

how would the r28 hold up to 300ftlb/400nm or so?

turbo technics hybrid td04 (garret wheel in a td04 body iirc similar to 19t)
3 bar map sensor
630cc injectors
3" downpipe/exhaust
forge dump valve
sachs uprated clutch
t5 suite for the mapping

everything else was stock engine wise

as to the car above how much can the r30 gearbox take? (and what box do I have on an x30xe?) do they last or is he changing them on a weekly basis lol

my old 9000 was around 370 and the current 9-3 is circa 330 or so (currently having the 2.0 removed and 2.3 fitted for better spool/ more torque lol) aiming for a little over 400 as the engines start to struggle in the 450-500 region...not to mention the gearboxes become service items  ;D

im in no way expecting it to even come close to the 9-3 but I expected it to be similar to the 2.5 cavalier (more power but also more bulk)
if the omega had a decent gearbox the spare 204r would be fitted (as far as I can tell the gearbox's are pretty much maxxed out on the v6..)

General Car Chat / Re: Stealer Oil Promotion on TC (Just About!)
« on: 26 December 2013, 22:29:08 »
Just picked up a sheet from local stealer for trade club offers -

They also list a 5/40 - anyone know if this is fully synthetic? 20 litres for £39.95

it is indeed I have a drum in me garage (5-6k oil changes are the norm for me so tc has saved me a fortune over the years)

been reading a few posts and a few people seem to mention this dual ram setup "at about 4k" I don't feel anything at those revs ?
the little vacuum thing on the front of the inlet moves but other than that ive no idea if it works

nothing special really (2.0/2.5 cavaliers mostly before the saabs) I don't expect it to live with the saab (300+bhp and lbft) but this thing is gutless (considering the engine size/ economy)

Omega General Help / performance?
« on: 26 December 2013, 19:29:52 »
out of interest what sort of performance should I be able to see from a 3.0 manual omega?

only im only averaging 19mpg witch is pretty ridiculous for the slowest car ive ever owned... keeping up with traffic seems laborious tbh

im hoping its just not running right and some servicing love will see it right

i do have a Halfords trade card (the paste was 78p iirc) but it didn't hold so ive ordered a new bit

I drove it around today and it felt fairly underpowered tbh and for some reason if you give it throttle at 1-1.5k it splutters badly but then pulls better... also noticed the header tank has a split round the cap today so I gotta get one of those aswell....

not really enjoying omega ownership tbh knowing its worth half what its cost to fix lol

on the note of engine changes is another better box available that can fit the omega (im thinking 400ftlb or so?)
