Hi everyone

I am starting this again having been up too many blind alleys already.

Can anyone tell me where I can get the above problem fixed for resonable money near to me? Or even better recommend someone who could come over to mine and fix in inside my voluminous shed - ie. they wont get wet - for cash.

V6 Jamie from Cheltenham I think has given up...

Rgds

Correct it was Laidback...who subsequently became mysteriously unavailable himself when I realised your 'old' number was u/s. I dont know why that was but if you're reading this Laidback perhaps you could enlighten me as to why?

Anyway Jamie, please get in touch as I am finding it very awkward without the car, and rather expensive too!

I'll send a pm with my contact details.

My VX Omega 3.0 V6 has blown a manifold gasket and I was given the mob no. of a Jamie who lives somewhere around Coventry(?) who is a mobile mechanic and specialises in Omegas.

Unfortunately the number is never switched on and he does respond to text messages!

If anyone know who he is and how I can get hold of him, I'd be very grateful.

Alternatively if someone else can help me fix my problem, I'd be very pleased.

Cheers

Omega General Help / "Check" light and CD playback problems
« on: 28 May 2007, 23:02:08 »
Hi everyone,

First: how do I get rid of a fault 'check' illuminated on the dot matrix display, telling me to replace a bulb, which has been done? Laiback 66 told why but I'd like to know how to cancel this out.

Second: my CD player no longer plays the CDs in slots 1-3 at the correct speed, whereas slot 4 plays OK. What's going on here?!

Can't fault the car or LB66 - both splendid!

...but how do I reset it?

Omega General Help / Electric window with mind of its own!?

I have recently acquired a most excellent 3 litre Elite from none other than Laidback 66, but it has one glitch...the rear n/s rear passenger window does not do as its told and refuses to shut completely.

Obviously this is an electrical fault but has anyone any idea how to rectify?

Welcome mate.

I hear that Laidback likes to help people in person and all he asks in return is a Pint - which in you case will obviously come with a return ticket to Melbourne (tip: he only flies Business)  ;D

Markjay: Of course this is Melbourne, Derbyshire not Melbourne Australia...even so I thoroughly recommend a pint of The Rev'd Eaton, Sawley Breweries finest ale. Laidback, you help me out and I will happily float you in the stuff.

 :)
Thank you for a rather touching welcome. But you are right it is more friendly than the other site, if that is possible. How Vauxhall must wish it generated the same customer loyalties...

Whats' more I've re-established comms with Laidback 66 which is a minor miracle considering the lenghts I have been to to get hold of him. My final options were motorcycle despatch, arrow or carrier pigeon and I'm not sure that any of them would have gotten through either! [Sorry but you deserved that Laidback!].

Anyway, I do have a probelm with the old Elite that has suddenly stopped. Laidback has promised to help me out as originally agreed, so barring any more comms problems hopefully we will be road worthy again pronto.

See you all in and around the site, and thanks again for such a warm welcome.

Hello everyone.

If this site is as friendly as I found the old one, then greetings. However, my main reason for joining was to track down your friendly administrator Laidback 66 who has been more elusive to me than Lord Lucan. Therefore, like Stanley, can I assume this is you Dr Livingston?

Since I am sure it is, would you mind getting in contact with me asap so that we can finish the proposed works on the Omega plus, now, getting it back on the road again?

General Discussion Area / Insurance diamond found
« on: 11 August 2006, 11:28:17 »
Hi everyone

IF YOU NEED INSURANCE IN DIFFICULT CIRCUMSTANCES, READ THIS:

I have recently concluded a 9-month ban after a DR 10 conviction, and of course finding an insurance company that didn't take the piss was going to be awkward. I made literally scores of calls to all those companies stating they dealt with convicted drivers and so on, and yes I did get reasonable quotes, given my circumstances, but of course miles away from my usual rates before my conviction.

I was then given the following contact by a colleague from the Jensen forum (I'm an FF owner too): Nathan Baigent, A-Plan Insurance. Nathan couldn't be a more helpful guy, and duly got me insurance that beat all those others into a cocked hat! For example:

My VX 3.0 Elite   fully comrehensive. courtsey car, Class 1 business use, 12k miles, legals etc - £380.00
Jensen FF (6.3 litre V8)   as above though as its classic car ins 5k miles and SDP only - £298.00

So I reckon its worth giving him a ring on 01993 778778.

Cheers

Charlie
