Omega General Help / Rocker cover
« on: 02 April 2014, 22:32:55 »
Hi everyone. I'm new to this site, and indeed to owning an Omega. I've just recently purchased an '03 3.2 Elite, and there is a very slight smell of burning oil, but no oil under the car, and I was told that the rocker cover gaskets needed replacing on one bank, also the sunroof would only close part way without needing to be reset. I've seen that you should only use VX parts for the gasket, but as I am in no way mechanically minded I have a few questions:
1) Is this a job a very novice mechanic could take on ( and by novice I mean changing a tyre and watching Ed China on Wheeler Dealers!) and apart from a torque wrench what would I need to DIY?
2) If it is a bit too much for me, how much would I be looking at in a garage for this?
3) What is going on with the sunroof needing resetting with a button pressing frenzy like Street Fighter? Am I better off just leaving the thing closed or learning the sequence?

Thanks a lot

Hi, just got my hands on an 03 3.2 Elite, blimey, it's some motor! Unfortunately, there is a smell of oil, was told the rocker cover gasket needs replacing by the previous owner. I'm not a mechanic, so what would I be looking at from a garage? Thanks
