Omega General Help / Re: 2.0 16V non start
« on: 19 October 2014, 22:14:57 »
In reply to threads poated.
The cam sensor was new and marked Siemens and identical to the part I took off.
It has started once since the new fuel filter. I now have fuel at the rail a la pushing the fuel decompression valve shows a decent spurt of fuel.
So I am looking at what will cut out spark and injectors and thinking crankshaft sensor as 1) cheap to buy and try 2) has a bad reputation for failure.

Omega General Help / 2.0 16V non start

2.0 16v petrol, X20XEV with Siemens Simtec 56.0/56.01.
Out of the blue no start. Fitted a new fuel filter. It started. That felt like £6 well spent !
However next day, no start. Thinking I was on the right path, fitted a new fuel pump. Still no start. That felt like £27 wasted !
No spark, fuel to the rail but dry plugs, so no injection.
Paperclip test says codes 38 91 and 92. Discounted 38 and 91, the Oxygen sensor as would not prevent start.
Code 92 points to Camshaft sensor and duly fitted a Siemens part. No start.
No new codes. Unable to clear old ones using the 30 times ignition on and off rule.
Am moving to getting a Crankshaft Sensor as it is number 1 on the 'Most Likely Route Scale'?
Am I in the right direction?
How do I clear codes without TEC 1 /2 ?

After all these years my 2.0 16V GLS Estate fails to start. Just realised how much I love the old boy. The fault is driving me mad hense looking at this forum.
However the quest to repair has moved me to think that I should be looking at it as a classic and not just a rubble mover.
When or if I get it going I will even consider changing the oil ! Is this love?
