Omega General Help / Re: Coolant Level message

Try the 'quick repair' option. Sometimes works, sometimes not.......
Make sure the coolant is cold. Take off the header tank cap, stick your finger in and waggle the float like mad for a few seconds.
Did it on my estate, and its never returned.  :y

I gotta try that too. :P

The sensor is located under the coolant expansion tank. Mine's broken too, but didn't find a new one or any info about how to remove it. There is new coolant tanks for sale with new sensors, but, if you want to save money like I did, just unconnect the sensor plug and put a jumpwire to it, so the message will go away.  :y

Omega General Help / Re: boot gas struts died overnight?!
« on: 15 August 2015, 22:06:24 »
Could be that, allthough, I never had any troubles with those in the cold weather, even in freezing winter (-10 <---> -30) they are working fine, but are bit stiff, so don't force them open too fastly. My bonnet gas struts died last summer, when the bonnet was littlebit open due some repairs for couple days, have you been keeping the boot lid open only a littlebit for some time ? Those gas struts should be always either fully up or fully down, the gas may leak, if they are partially open. :)

Omega General Help / Re: vibration over 60mph
« on: 13 August 2015, 19:59:44 »
What kind of tyres do you have ? Make ? Model ? Manufacturing year ?

Because, I do have this exactly same problem also and I think, that it's got something to do with the tyres. Cheap tyres can be badly made, so they are never in good balance, even thou, the balancing weights onthe rims are correct. My tyres are some cheap Westlake's and I'm never ever gonna buy cheap tyres again. The sides of the tyres are bumpy and I believe, that the supporting steel/nylon radial is not propely set up. I too have this unpleasant vibration in 110-120 km/h (~65-75 mph) and after that, it goes away slightly.

Omega General Help / Re: how does air con work in principal?
« on: 12 August 2015, 15:50:20 »

Yes the rad infront of the main coolant rad. Being right at the front they are susceptible to the effects of road salt.

And it has suffered from that yea, we have that road salt-issue here in scandinavia, goverment's road workers shovel it way too much to the roads, even when there is no need for it.

But, If I pay for the aircon-service, will it be sure, that it will work ? I don't want to pay for nothing.

My Aircon went down over a year ago, and I don't know, that what could be the cause of it. The switch works, tested that one out and the fuse is ok. Compressor don't go on, when I press the button. Could it be, that the aircon liquid has escaped ? The aircon pipes under the front bumber have rusted quite a bit, so I might suspect, thet it's leaked off from there. Any thoughts ? :)

Condenser is the likely fault

The one in the front, that small AC-radiator ? And the problem is the leaking or something else ?

Omega General Help / Re: x25xe tuning parts.
« on: 11 August 2015, 15:57:08 »
I would think, that some old fashioned re-tuning would be neede to make it have more power (cams, valves, inlet ports, exhaust ports, manifolds, new frontal section of the exhaust, adjustable ignition, ECU, fuel injection and cam timings). New camshafts would be essential, when you need to have more power. To have more response, the whole inlet system should be modified, I've read from somewhere, that these V6's are suffering from too restricted airflow. So that should need mods too. And the flywheel:

Torque = Heavier <---> Lighter = Better engine response/lighter revving, so I'd go for full steel flywheel, that can be lightened slightly. If you lighten it too much, the idle suffers a lot, it won't be that smooth 500-600 anymore.

Just some thoughts. :)

Omega General Help / Re: Anyone used allgermanparts for cambelt?
« on: 09 August 2015, 15:18:14 »
About those rollers, I didn't change them in the last belt change, so I'm kinda in a nervous situation, been driving for over 100 000 km with those rollers and the change limit is 60 000 km. :D But, I'm gonna change the whole set in this autumn. :)
Yes, its the idlers and tensioner (especially) that goes, so you're on borrowed time.  Never change just the belt on the V6 :y

Yes, I know, saved some money, but I've been driving very carefully with it, not revving too much, especially in the mornings. :) Maybe I have just been lucky till now. :D

I'll always order my cambelt kits from Germany, because, you can get quality stuff from there much more cheaper. Last time I ordered cambelt for my gf's G-Astra and it was brilliant, Continental kit and they know, how to make those. Not any squeaking or problems with it and the parts were high quality. Gonna go for that for my Omega too. They even had said, that they're gonna make cambelt, that can last for car's entire lifetime. :o
The cambelt probably would last a car's lifetime (probably lifetime = 150,000km). But on the Omega, its the idler bearings and tensioner that gives up first, causing the cambelt to go too loose, causing 24 bent valves ;)

Yea they do. And all of that because, the belt is huge. Don't understand, that why they didn't go for a chain with that engine, with that it would be marvellous engine. It's good in it's current state already. :)

That reflecting dashboar is a nightmare on summer. Cannot see anything sometimes, when the light hits it. Gonna make more matte, to see if it helps. Biggest problem thou is the reason, that the angle of the windscreen and the dashboard related to each other is bad.

Omega General Help / Re: Heater issues with hot engine
« on: 30 July 2015, 17:32:48 »
What you report would be consistent with the climate panel thinking the car is hotter than it really is. I.e. there's a transition from full cooling to full heating between 27 and HI, and what you are hearing is the blending flap moving across its' full travel. Air direction between the floor, defrost and face vents also changes depending on whether the system is heating or cooling, so I think that aspect is normal.

You can see the temperature probe outputs in the live data using a tech 2. I appreciate you're a little far away, but if you can get it to someone with a Tech 2, that would shed some more light on the problem, I'm sure.

Thank you for this! And yea, here is couple members on the Opel Club Finland, who has those readers, but even they are long away from where I am. But I'll try to get my hand on one of those readers.

And what can I do with that reader, does it show, if there is something wrong or can it do reprogramming in case, that there is issues with that panel's ecu ?

Anyone ? Is this common and/or repairable problem ? :)
