Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: told I might need a new ecu

He did mention a code was being thrown up bad cam sensor signal I think it was. He did say it didn't happen all the time which led them to believe it was a break in a wire my father in law is a retired Vauxhall mechanic and is very dubious how this is going he's convinced as am I its just a dodgy sensor from Vauxhall been a week without a car and there seems to be no end in sight.

It was running lovely after I changed the spark plugs I can't read the codes he has checked the wiring all ok he's getting the ecu checked if it turns out to be the sensor he will fit it free of charge.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / told I might need a new ecu

Took my cam cover off last week changed it and while taking off the cam sensor notice the wires wasn't in the best of shape so changed that as well. Went to start the car nothing had a mechanic take a look told me it was reading my crank shaft sensor was bad changed that car started but would move about 4 metres then stall had it towed to a garage they thought I had broken a wire now they are saying it could be a bad sensor or the ecu. They say as it's agenuine cam sensor it's more likely to be the ecu and want to send if off to test it. I'm not sure I think it's the cam sensor any thoughts

Thank you for the advice will double check everything in the morning fingers crossed it's an easy fix.

7
Yes could the coil pack be bad and not showing up a code.

I changed my cam cover gasket today reconnected everything and now the car won't start. Connected up to code reader it's showing crankshaft sensor fault would this stop the car from starting it was fine yesterday before I started the job.

Omega General Help / oil in spark plug wells
« on: 19 July 2015, 08:44:53 »
Decided to change the spark plugs after my 2.2 started stalling in hot weather. Pulled the coil pack off covered in oil took out the spark plugs all covered in oil top and bottom no mayo on oil cap or in expansion tank. No white smoke when starting and run fine after changing plugs. Car had been sitting for 3 months before I bought it. Would it be the rocker gasket or something more sinister that's going to hit me hard in the wallet.

Thanks for the reply. It sounds like it's coming from the manifold area hissing still there when warm but not so loud

Omega General Help / hissing from engine
« on: 12 July 2015, 15:48:15 »
Hi all got a strange problem with my 2.2 2001 it has a hissing sound from the engine which is louder when you first start the engine. The last two days the weather's been hot and after driving for about 2 miles the engine stalled then started up straight away it didn't stall again all day. Now the weather's cooler it's not stalling but it's running a little rough any help gratefully recieved
